bzbride2277 :  The first two look like “Ah-lee-sa” and the second two look like “Ah-liss-ah.” I’m not sure which name you’re going for. Just keep those sorts of things in mind when you’re making your final decisions 🙂

I prefer Alisa if you plan to pronounce it “Ah-lee-sa”. I would probably pronounce all the other ones “ah-lis-sa”

Is it meant to sound like Ah-LIE-sa (Eliza?) or Ah-LEE-sa?

If you use the double “S” spelling it would be pronounces AH-LISS-AH  if you use one S I would pronounce it AH-LEE-SA .

I voted for Alysa even though it likes a typo of Alyssa. That’s going to be a tricky name to spell with your pronounciation.

Only Options 1 or 3 will get you the long E sound you want. Double s’s will make people think it’s a short I sound.

I think your poll is going to be skewed since the pronunciation you wanted wasn’t clear from the initial post. “LI” to ME denoted a short I sound, in which case, yeah, I would have chosen Option 4.

Fourth option is how the people I’ve met spell their name, but that’s pronounced Ah-liss-ah.

What about Elisa? I think people would be more likely to pronounce that how you like rather than saying “Alyssa”

I’m shocked to see so many people vote for ‘Alyssa’. That screams ah-LISS-ah to me. I would never get the pronunciation right off the bat if it were spelled Alyssa. With Alisa I think I would probably get it right because it reminds me of Elisa except with the ‘ah’ instead of the ‘ee’ sound at the beginning.

Why not just spell it Aleesa then.

I wouldn’t say any of those with the long ee sound.

    bzbride2277 :  I don’t know, when I see the name Elise I pronounce it uh-lease.

My name is Elizabeth and people pronounce it uh-lizabeth as if it were spelled with an A.

They are kind of in between an el sound and an ah sound to me.
