So now that DH and I are TTC, we had the baby name discussion and it was SO easy. We want to do family names and a boy’s name was easy Peter Lee. But we have a few options for a girl’s name.
Now who know’s what we’ll end up with since this is theoretical at this point, but I’m bored on my break at work lol. We are pretty set on Eleanor from his mom. Currently I’m most fond of Edith to go with it. It’s my grandma’s name and I’m close to her and she’s not well and getting on in age. I also had a cousin who shared that name who passed away in August and while I wasn’t close to that cousin, I am close to her mom, my aunt, and I’d love to pay tribute to her and give her a namesake too.

I like Edith Eleanor! You could call her Edie – so cute! And a beautiful name to grow into.

Eleanor is one of my top two favorite girls’ names, so I voted Eleanor Edith!

I love Eleanor although it is climbing quickly in popularity if that’s of any concern.
Edith is not my taste personally, but I feel a name with meaning is more important than the overall “sound” of a name.

Eleanor is top of my list for a girl. We’re thinking of Elizabeth as the middle name.

I like Eleanor as a first name. I’ve never been a fan of names ending in -th, but Edith as a middle name isn’t bad, and the meaning behind it is nice.

it’s dh’s mom’s name, so I’ve decided not to care about popularity, although I did look it up and you’re right, its like 35 or something for last year. Oh well. I know the same thing happened with Evelyn, but I still think it’s a lovely name.
I seriously thought about that too, but it’s the name of my niece and while I don’t mind kids sharing names in a family across generations, I’d prefer to avoid cousins sharing a name if possible. I mean my family has done it a couple of times and it’s not a big deal, but still.
I do love the nickname Ellie or even Nora.
isn’t Edie a great nickname? I like it and Ellie.

I love both Eleanor and Edith – I vote dfor Eleanor Edith but honestly Edith Eleanor sounds just as good 🙂
I love Nora as a nickname so that’s why I ultimately chose Eleanor Edith

DS was going to be Eleanor with Nell as a nickname if he was a girl.

Ugh, I love so many of these.
Are my faves. I love Edith too but it also always reminds me of Edith Bunker.

Love Edith Eleanor (nn Edie, as a PP mentioned!) followed by Vivian Eleanor (nn Vivi).

I’m not a fan of alliterated names, which kind of killed Eleanor Edith and Edith Eleanor for me. I don’t know why, it’s just something I’ve never liked. I voted for Vivian Eleanor, as both are favourites of mine and I think they should lovely together. If you’re open to changes, I also think that Eleanor Vivian sounds really lovely.

Edith was my grandmother’s name as well, though she passed when I was 10. I’m sorry to here about your grandmother’s health. My nan went by Deedee, but I much prefer Edie as a nickname, haha. I’m personally not crazy about super old-fashioned names like that, but I think the meaning it has for you and nickname potential makes it a lovely choice.

I am lucky that my currently procreating sister and cousins agree lol. She doesnt have any namesakes this generation and grandma currently has something like 25 grandkids who had the chance to name kids after her, only 6 of which are men, and then uncountable great-grandkids. And now her oldest great granddaughter is marrying in July so we’re about to get started on another generation lol. Well, I mean, at normal ages. She does have a 18 month old great great grandson, but my cousin’s daughter was only 16 when she had him.
I think grandma is doing better today. They just released her from the hospital to a nursing home today for physical therapy before she goes home in a couple of weeks. She scared us like this 4 years ago and I really hope she’s on the mend again. I do love the idea of naming a daughter after her, but I do also like the other names in the poll. Time will tell.
