I’m from Montreal and I have a 0.71ct solitaire (5.25 finger) and a 0.30 eternity wedding ring. In the french community (so most people) not only most people don’t get married, but the ones who does usually have rings on the smaller side. Clusters, small halos, dainty (less than 0.3) solitaires.

Anglophones usually have bigger rings, I’ve noticed!

I live in the GTA and I’ve got to say… stand in line at the grocery store and look around at the ladies — most center diamonds are .33 to probably .75 approx. My mother’s diamond was less than .10 and she and dad were together for 72 years. So I say the size of the diamond has no bearing on the size of the love!

ivvy : Mine is a 1.32 blue Sapphire, not sure if that makes a difference that it isn’t a diamond? Ring is a three stone, has 0.5 diamonds on either side of the sapphire, set in white gold.

It looks great on my hand (I have size 8 finger), but it is a bit bigger then most I see. I am not in TO or VAN but still in a bigger city in Canada.

I’m from rural Ontario. I have a 0.8ct, and it’s definitely the largest stone in my circle. Tbh, I waffled for a while between 5mm and 6mm, and went with the 6mm because of everything I read about “shrinkage”, but if I had to buy a new center stone I would probably actually go down a size to the 0.5ct.
All my family/friends have rings either with one smallish center 0.3-0.4 or melee, or just a band with some small stones set in, etc.
