Just curious – Did you know your Fiance was going to propose, was it a surprise, or somewhere in the middle? My Fiance thought he was surprising me and that I had no clue (he still thinks that till this day) but I definitely knew when he was going to do thanks to a nasty little snooping habit I have!

I knew that he would, but didn’t know when. I helped him pick out my engagement ring and he waited until the perfect moment to propose. Somehow, he still managed to completely surprise me, too 🙂

I knew that it was coming within the next 6 months or so, but I didn’t know the exact date, which was a huge surprise! And I didn’t know much about the ring. While he was picking out the ring, he would come home from work a couple of times late and be like, in theory, would you prefer this or this? I think he wanted to pick out the ring himself, but was overwhelmed with choices and wanted me to love the one he picked! So I knew it was coming because of the ring talks, but I hadn’t seen the ring, only had little hints about it!

We had been dating 3 years and we talked about getting married all the time, but he always said we were not ready financially. He is pretty serious when it comes to that kind of thing, so I figured he was waiting until we were about more established in our careers and finances.
We planned belated anniversary trip to a city about 2.5 hours away and I asked him to plan the whole thing. I am ALWAYS the planner, neurotically so, so I told him it would be nice not to have to worry about 1 thing. He took it and ran. He planned every single event and meal. When we were actually on the road, things were seeming too perfect. He was being extra sweet, everything was going my way lol. After he proposed on the trip, he told me he had bought the ring 3 months before, stashed it at my parents house, and had been planning the trip ever since. I had absolutely NO clue any of it was going on. nothing. him and my parents were in cahoots and I was oblivious!
So, I didn’t see it coming, but the day of I suspected something was up. I was still very surprised when he actually did it though. I didn’t think he was actually going to since he had been telling me for over a year we werent ready.

Lily_of_the_valley: I knew he was ready to propose, and I figured he had a ring. I just didn’t know what the ring looked like, when or how. I was still very surprised and thrilled with how he did it (on the beach – our favorite spot). We had known we wanted to be together forever, we had discussed that and a general timeline for both of us. But specifics? Not so much. I left the details up to him. Can’t wait to marry my best friend!!!

Mine was a surprise. Getting engaged wasn’t even on my radar although we’d been together a long time already at that point.

I voted Yes, that I knew. I didn’t know they exact time frame other than “soon” but the ring had been in the house for a month and he knew I was going insane lol.

We went and looked at rings a couple weeks prior, and found one that I loved. I figured he wouldn’t go and buy it until MONTHS later… so the thought of him proposing when he did was the furthest from my mind.

Lily_of_the_valley: I knew he was going to propose. We had a Disney vacation planned around Valentine’s Day, so I knew by the time I came home from Disney I was going to be engaged, whether he did it before the trip or during. A week before our vacation, Fiance wanted to take me somewhere and do someting “nice” and I have to admit…I kind of knew then. I wouldn’t let myself think about it too much in case it didn’t happen then. We still had a wonderful day together and during the actual proposal I was still incredibly excited and happy.

I could see it coming because he was planning a weekend getaway and not telling me many details. And then it became more and more evident. We just know each other very well!
