I voted boy name because the only time I’ve heard of that name is from a character in some popular romantic book/movie, maybe Fault in Our Stars? Just something to keep in mind! 🙂

I associate more as a name for boys because the only time I’ve heard it used was for a male. I don’t think it’s a particularly masculine or a particularly feminine name, but think it has a ‘soft’ energy/feel to it if that makes sense.

Boy, in my mind. (Also on my list for boy names hah)

    Augusta is the girl version.

That said, I know a girl named Michael so honestly a girl named August wouldn’t make me blink.

I actually think its pretty split for me. I consider it like “jamie” now. I know tons of women and men named jamie.

I asked my fiance and he immediately said girl!  But before I asked him, my first thought was boy.  Sorry if that’s not helpful lol

I’ve only heard it for boys and much prefer it for boys. But I don’t think it would be weird for a girl either.

I totally see that as a girls name. And a really cute one at that.

I would say Augustus is a boy, Augusta is a girl. August would be 50/50 odds.

I voted boy, but I could see it for a girl! Trendy!

Girl. I live in Silicon Valley and Mark Zuckerberg/Priscilla Chan’s daughter is named August.

I also just tend to view month names as female for some reason (April, May, June).

I lean hard towards girl but probably because I know a girl named August. Augustus is the boy version to me. That’s the name of the fault in our stars character not August.

ExpectingBee :  it’s probably based on experiences.  I met one August my entire life, way back in 1st grade and she was a girl.  So I will always think of it as a girls’ name.  Why not use Augustus and shorten it if you like?  Then there’s no fuss either way.

I think of a boy because of Augustus Caesar. I don’t know any females with the name Augusta.
