I have more olive coloured skin. I preferred ivory on me. White was just too stark when I put it on. If I were you I would make an appointment at a bridal shop and just go have a look. Ask for both colours and see what you like best on yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

My skin is olive toned (half Arab) and I like both. Technically my dress was considered ivory but it was basically white.

I get SUPER tan in the summer, which is when I went to look at dresses, and the white looked better on me, personally. The Ivory didn’t do much for me, but the white made me look the best. I also have some cooler tones in my skin, so I think that’s why white looks better on me. Even in daily life, I buy white over Ivory shirts, dreses, etc.

Ivory is going to look white in pictures. White will look slightly blue and very stark in photos. If you want white, then I would go with what a lot of designers are calling “soft white” or “diamond white” lighter than ivory, but they photograph much better than just straight white.

I’m half Indian with olive coloured skin. Out of those choices, I prefer ivory, but I actually went with champagne for my own dress instead. I think white is way too harsh looking on all skin tones.

ETA: I have added a photo of what my dress looked like trying it on (ivory tulle & ivory lace). You can see that it looks really white and not yellow at all.

I’m Asian Indian and medium brown. I wore ivory. White didn’t look right.

chillbee29 :  yeah my dress didn’t really look yellow to me. It just didn’t have the starkness of the white white one. And like someone else said, it’s still white in the end. Just a different shade choice ๐Ÿ™‚ maybe try taking a picture of it in yellowed lighting with flash with your phone and see what you think?

chillbee29 :  I’m brown (not tan) but love how white pops on my skin! I was open to different styles of dresses but would not budge on my dress being white. I think ivory would be the next best thing if white is too harsh for your tastes. I tried on a few ivory gowns that looked pretty white.

I wore ivory because I felt like white was too white on me. But the ivory wasn’t too yellow or more of a white ivory.
