I don't smoke. Never have, never will.

I've tried it before, and it's just not my cup of tea.

    I smoke every blue moon.

    I smoke on the regular.

I should also add that I’m not a big fan of being around people that are super stoned. I find them obnoxious. But I would say the same thing about people who are super drunk.

I was super against it in high school, and probably would have reacted much like your “friend” did (and probably did in similar situations, to be honest), even though I drank and smoked cigarettes. Then I got to college and realized I was being a judgmental, sanctimonious cunt. I’ve tried it a handful of times since then, and it’s not really my thing. I much prefer drinking. A lot of my friends smoke, however, and it doesn’t bother me. My only concern is that it’s illegal where I live, and I’d hate for any of them to get into any kind of trouble. But other than that, they are all responsible adults and can spend their leisure time however they choose.

Haha I thought this was about cigarettes as well.  I smoked plenty before college and my first two years of college.  A lot actually.  After then I did it occasionally but I really just grew out of it.  I liked it for awhile but I don’t have any desire to at all anymore.

I don’t care if anyone else does it (although it’s not exactly the healthiest to smoke anything) as long as they’re not driving.  I don’t think I’d want to hang around a bunch of people smoking either since I don’t want to do it.  Most of my friends (that did it a lot) all grew out of it or only do it more occasionally now (instead of ever day).  I don’t have a problem with it being legal.

yourhandinmine:  I could care less who smokes weed and who doesn’t. Its hardly dangerous and it being a proven gateway drug is debatable.. I’m all for legalization and think its immensely helpful for a lot of medical issues. Smoke it, eat it, vape it.. I really can’t bring myself to judge people for things that don’t affect me.

I live in Washington where it is legal, and theoretically I think it should be legal across the board. I also think it can do wonders for people who use it medicinally. My concern though is that people using it recreationally will inhibit its legalization for medicinal use. People have a hard time reconciling medicine with something that gets you high and I think its reputation for being “fun” hurts the cause for it being used medicinally.

Personally, I don’t smoke and I don’t see the appeal for someone like myself. If you feel the need to regularly get drunk, high, or otherwise out of your headspace, you should probably examine what in your life causes that. I respect that you use it for relaxation while you are in school, but if you are using constantly throughout your life I wonder if there are factors that should be changed rather than using weed as a bandaid. I would give the same advice to someone who has multiple drinks several times a week.

Anecdotally, I have a hard time being around people when they are high or if they are heavy users. They are just so slow and I find it difficult to maintain a conversation with them. I also find that they think themselves far more interesting than they actually are, but this is probably not the weed’s fault lol.

I have a feeling you won’t be getting too many other bees publicly announcing and elaborating on their (current) marijuana use. Regardless of the legality, there are still a ton of judgey/misinformed people in the world and many bees have posted personal info and/or photos and with this being a popular website and all… yeaaah. But I will say I thought there were more West Coasters on the Bee? 😉 Lol.

I’ve never smoked (just no desire to and no access to it) and most people in my life are the same way. One of my best friends and I actually drifted apart because of our preferences (hers was to smoke all the time, mine was to never smoke). I made it very clear to her that I had no problem with her doing whatever she wanted but that I wasn’t interested in participating. The discussion first came up during high school when she was encouraging me to hang out and smoke. I was obviously fine with hanging out but just didn’t want to smoke at all. Her attempts at peer pressure were relentless LOL!! She thought it was prudeish of me and somehow reflective of my opinions of her smoking, and we just slowly starting mixing with other groups of friends.

I have never tried pot or cigarettes. Personally, I dont get it.  But to be honest, I am just too gottdamned vain to smoke as I hate the smoker lips look (and that goes for both weed and cigs).

I have never smoked but know many people who do, and I don’t feel that it should be illegal. That being said, I dated someone for quite some time who smoked a lot, and got in a lot of to uncle because of it. I tend to have a lot of negative feelings surrounding it for that reason, because it reminds me of dishonesty and legal trouble. I’d love to see the culture around it change so that there are fewer of those negative feelings floating around.

yourhandinmine:  I do not smoke and neither does my husband. Just never had the opportunity I guess? I’m not against legalization and not against those who smoke. I just do not enjoy the smell, therefore I don’t “hang out” while people do smoke it. To each there own, for sure!

yourhandinmine:  the girl’s reaction was definitely ridiculous. I personally don’t smoke (tried it in college a bit, it was fun but I outgrew it), but have friends that do and agree that a little after work is no different than a glass of wine.

HOWEVER. I am so sick and tired of smokers who claim it never causes accidents and kills. It absolutely does. There isn’t an instant read test for drivers who are under the influence that’s comparable to alcohol, but people who smoke and drive are no less impaired than someone who has used alcohol, cocaine, or any other mind altering substance. A person who is under the influence of ANY drug (legal or not) has decreased reaction time and attention and can cause fatal accidents.

I tried it a few times in college, but didn’t love it.  I strongly prefer drinking.  I never really thought much about it until I seriously dated a stoner.   Yes, he was successful and smart, but the guy had zero common sense.  That’s when I became an anti-pot crusader.

I’ve noticed that it doesn’t affect academic intelligence, as much as it kills good old fashioned common sense, plus it stinks.  And potheads are so boring!  I’d rather hang out with cokeheads than around potheads, not that I’d like the company of either.

It’s illegal here, so no I wouldn’t want to hang out with someone who was smoking it. I had my fun in high school.
