So Darling Husband and I went last night to check out a friggin awesome place to rent! It’s a MASSIVE victorian home (I would say mansion hahaha) that is in a really cool college town nearby. The home has been divided into an attic apartment, a second-floor apartment, and a first-floor apartment. It’s in a really neat neighborhood with big cool trees and quiet.
It looks sort of like this
The kitchen is so so, a bit 80’s 🙁 But tons of natural light and room for an island. And a balcony where I could grow some herbs. I kinda want to hang some beads or something in the kitchen doorway.
The bathroom is also a bit 70’s but there is a door to the toilet and a door to the shower/sink so that would be nice if we only have the one bathroom that those areas can be used separately.
The apartment we looked at has:
*A private entrance on with a wrap around front porch that is just ours.
*You walk in the carved front door to a tiny sitting area. With a carved wood staircase, the ceilings go up to the 2nd floor and there is an awesome chandelier. There is plenty of room under the stairs to put a cute little reading nook.
*Hardwood floors throughout
*Floor to ceiling windows in the living room
*A closet in the living room houses the washer and dryer.
*3 HUGE bedrooms
*It’s 1000 sq ft (which I realize isn’t huge but our last place was like 950, and we are probably in like 600 right now) the ceilings are so tall it just feels massive.
*It’s 2 blocks from downtown with all the cool restaurants and shops in easy walking distance, but we couldn’t hear any noise from the bars
*They provide parking, and don’t have to do any lawn work or snow removal.
Water and trash are included in the rent, and they don’t mind our 3 cats (almost everywhere says only 2) , for $850 a month!!!
But we were joking about how old the house is, and it’s a little creepy haha. But I keep telling myself if we already have an attic neighbor then if I hear noises I can blame it on them or the cats. I also happen to love creepy… This would mean we can live in an old creepy house without being financially on the hook for very costly old house problems.
We are putting in our applications and risking the haunting! haha
So bees, any of you have old house stories? Did you live in one peacefully or did anyone get scared?
