I don’t know how to make a formal poll out of this so I’m just asking.
My husband-to-be and have about 5,000 in found money for our wedding budget. We talked about upgrading my engagement ring (which I got about a year ago) or hiring a high end videographer that makes wedding films.
I am leaning toward the wedding film but HTB thinks that we won’t watch it. Thoughts??

@sundaystyles: Hmmm that’s a tough choice. But rings, as you already know, can be upgraded at a later date and a video cannot.

I would do the ring upgrade. Im not having a videographer because I’m positive ill never watch the video.

Videographer. You can upgrade your ring in future but you never get a second shot to film your wedding.

I just have a teaser from my wedding so far, and I LOVE it. Just make sure you get someone that has good editing skills and makes it more dynamic and less linear. You’re future children will love to see it.

I would get the videographer. That is one of my only regrets about our wedding. And like PP said, you can always upgrade the ring later =)

Ring upgrade! Youll have that beauty on your hand every day to remind you of the love and of your marriage. How often does one REALLY look through wedding albums or videos?

I would choose the ring. Only because I have a handful of friends who had a videographer and have only watched the video once. I’ll already have photos from the professional photographer, friends, family, myself etc. Plus I don’t really want to have to watch myself on video acting a fool and flailing around on the dance floor after a few drinks. Haha!

Video. As PP said, you can upgrade the ring at a later time but you won’t have the chance again to capture this moment on video.

BOTH! Get a lower end videographer and a decent ring upgrade. Win win!

Neither. Save the money for an awesome trip or toward another big ticket item like house or something.

@sundaystyles: my Fiance parents got married 25 yrs ago and here we are 27 looking at the video and I was soo excited to watch it.. yeah you may not watch it but others will.. LIke your future child and his/her fiance’…I was on VHS and the camera man was okay but I think about if I got a high end videographer then I probably would’ve seen much more!
I like watching things like that of my parents it makes me feel like I’m living the exprience with them….
Your ring could be upgraded on your 5 yr anniversary or something.. but the videographer/photographers are more important to me b/c those are a one chance deal… no wedding redo’s just renewals…… no upgrades on those items down the line like you can do jewlery.

Videographer!!!! The only things you will have left of your wedding will be memories, pictures, the dress, andddddddd video. We went with a cinematographer for that reason exactly. With a $5K budget, you can definitely get a cinematographer
Couldn’t agree more with PP, You can always upgrade your ring in the future. You can’t recreate you guys saying your vows and enjoying the reception!
