Our wedding day is a wednesday, 50 day guests invited, 49 RSVPd as attending. It’s your day and if the people you are inviting want to see you get married, it’s worth a day off

mmnnhh:  I think that the people who want to be there will be there. They may bitch and moan (probably not to you) but they will attend! You know your crowd best – so if you think they’ll be okay with a Thursday – go for it.

I actually had a coworker (older generation too) who suggested a Thursday wedding.  She said it’s totally normal now to have a weekday wedding, and guests understand because of the astronomical cost of weddings.  Off-season, off-weekend are less expensive and your guests that want to be there with you will go regardless of time/date/location if it is within their power to do so.

Weekday weddings are not normal. They are less expensive for a reason

Choose whatever date works for you. But manage your expectations and don’t get upset when people who you know “have time off or work PT” RSVP no.

mmnnhh:  I’d be pissed. That’d be 2 days off of work for me. I just wouldn’t be able to swing it for anyone but a family member.

mmnnhh:  My cousin was married on a weekday. I was not able to attend even though I wanted to be there.

You can get married on whatever date you’d like, but weekdays are, in general, more inconvenient than weekends for most guests.

If you decide to prioritize a special date over your guests’ convenience, that’s your perogative. But please don’t assume that if and when guests decline it is because they don’t love you enough or they don’t want to be there. There are few things that make me feel more rage-y than this attitude.

(Not saying this is how you feel, OP, but this point inevitably always comes up in the this conversation.)

I would come to your wedding no matter what day it was on…I probably just wouldn’t stay at the reception as late as I would during a weekend wedding.

What did you end up doing? I’m curious I we’re looking at having a thursday wedding but all the negative nancy’s on wedding bee have made me conscious about the decision (though we’ve had assurance from most of our invited guests that they don’t care when or when, they’ll be there). How did it turn out? How did your guests feel?

kaelasoul:  xnxo:  Given that neither of you tagged the OP, I wouldn’t hold your breath for an answer. I don’t think there are too many Bees who review their old posts to see if anyone had a follow up query.

mmnnhh:  omg your wedding was beautiful! This makes my heart so joyful! We bit the bullet a few weeks ago and went with a Thursday in June 2017. I’m so thrilled to hear about how your wedding went. I’ve had some crazy looks when I’ve mentioned the date but I’m not worried about it! I hope your marriage has been amazing and will continue to be! Thank you for replying I feel so much better about our decision now.
