Since you don’t plan to cut any of the out of state guests, I’d give it at least month or two. Hopefully the current downtrend in COVID cases/hospitalizations/deaths will hold as more and more people get vaccinated, and restrictions will loosen even more, but you never know.

I think at over a year into the pandemic most people get the uncertainty around planning weddings and other events, and will hopefully be understanding if you do need to make some cuts. Good luck!

Contrary to PP, I’d happily attend an indoor gathering like a wedding now that I am fully vaccinated. (Unless something changes with regard to the variants between now and October.) The vaccines are extremely effective. Pfizer is  97 percent effective at protecting against severe disease a week or more after the second dose, and over 90% effective at preventing asymptomatic infection (aka transmission). That’s the one I got so yeah, I still wear a mask when it’s recommended but I’m no longer in shut down mode. #YOLO.

Different folks have different comfort levels with COVID and that is completely understandable. There may be some people on your guest list who are uncomfortable attending an indoor wedding and that is entirely their right. But I bet you also have plenty of people who are vaccinated and would be happy to attend, so imo you should throw the wedding you want (while obviously complying with local Covid restrictions)!

At this point I’d leave it until the latest possible, so right before invites. I hope everything opens up for you!

6-8 weeks is fine. I was meant to go to 3 weddings this summer/fall and that’s about the amount of time they all gave it.

One of them sent out save the dates so they had to send around an email to everyone that was no longer invited explaining the situation.

I’d leave it till the last possible moment – unless your guests are living under a rock, they will be expecting potential changes up till the last minute.
