So, two months ago, I cracked a tooth on a really hard piece of bacon in a salad from a big franchise cafe (maybe I shouldn’t mention names). The resulting crack ended up being an extraction and an implant. (It took this long for the dentist to figure out what to do with it.) DH thought I should probably let the cafe know what happened because that is a pretty serious injury. I’m on the fence about the whole thing because it’s a freak accident. What would you do?

@mnp: I agree you should let them know about it, but I also think that you should have said something when it happened. Also, bacon so hard it cracked your tooth?!

A friend of my mom’s had something similar happen with a piece of plastic in her salad. I believe she sued for the cost of the dental work and won.

@s2bmrscook: I should have let them know sooner but it didn’t really occur to me how bad it was until recently when the dentist said the tooth isn’t stable anymore and needed out. Since Darling Husband and I can pay for the tooth, we’re not actually looking for any monetary solution either. Just more of a Public Service Announcement of, “hey, your bacon bits are frickin’ hard!” Yeah, it was bacon. lol It took away my craving for bacon for a bit.
