Venue. Our wedding date didn’t have any significance at all, so it could have been any date within our timeframe (August/Sept 2011).

I voted venue but, after thinking about it for more than a split second, the date is something you will have for the rest of your life…

I picked my venue first and went off of their available dates. I ended up with a nice symmetrical number that looks great on paper (at least I think) and we are happy to have for the rest of our lives!

I REALLLLY want a specific date; that being said, I’d still pick my dream venue on a different day vs a different venue on that day.

A little of both. I live in MI and hate the cold and snow, so getting married Nov-Mar was a no-go for me (I perfer to hibernate). Otherwise though, I was fine with any date. The venue we loved was booked in September of this year (my original choice) so we just moved it up to May of 2013. In retrospect, I’m glad because it’s giving us more time to save up.

Our venue was more important to us!

Honestly Im going to say both. I knew when I was going to get married before where. I have always wanted to be an April bride. The weather in April down here is perfect for an outdoor wedding (which we are having). The dates in April really didnt matter much to me. We just wanted an early April wedding. However, the venue was on our top 3 priorities list (Food and attire is in this as well). We HAD to have something with beautiful scenery. If I was going to be a spring bride, its going to have to look like spring outdoors. Also a plus, an already beautiful venue means little to decorate for the ceremony :). So the venue we found was outdoors in a garden under a beautiful gazebo and the wedding date we booked was of course April 13, 2013. I wasn’t too crazy about the date because I love even numbers but… its growing on me.

To me, the season matters, and also the date matters if any key people have a conflict.  It is reasonable to plan, to a degree, around the schedules of immediate family.  Beyond that, I didn’t really care about the particular date.  We wound up choosing Labor Day weekend because it was nice to have a 3-day weekend plus my mom is a teacher so she wasn’t back at school yet.  But really, we just wanted any date during the fall of 2011.  (A spring season would have been fine too, but I didn’t wait to wait til spring 2012, and spring 2011 was too soon after we were engaged.)

I love our date, and I am SUPER stoked that it’s looking like we’re going to get it, but the venue is far more important to us – I was certainly willing to compromise with the date if we found the perfect venue.

We saw our venue and we both knew that’s where we wanted to be married-so I voted venue.

I don’t think one over the other is necessarily better, it just all depends on which of the 2 is most important to you. If you want Memorial Day weekend, keep looking….you never know you might find a venue you like better that has your date available. 🙂

There’s no “food” option in this poll… 🙂

I voted ‘venue’ – we had a Thursday wedding so that we could get married in the venue we liked (we had one of our first dates there) and we didn’t want to wait another year to get married.

Unless there was something weird or negative about the date, definitely the venue. Fiance and I will keep celebrating our dating anniversary after the wedding (it’s also the day that he proposed). I am 100% in favor of creating MORE days on the calendar to dress up and go out to dinner. 🙂
