Silver. We both prefer the look and it doesn’t tarnish if you wear it. Granted I’ll have to replace it someday but it’s been 4 years and they look fine at the moment, though my engagement ring has always been very skinny. It’ll make a nice tenth anniversary gift or something.

My e ring and wedding band are both 18K WG. The wedding band was included with the purchase (eBay), so it’s not like we paid extra for it. I would like a RG wedding band though, so we’ll probably get that eventually. We’re okay with the upkeep that is expected to maintain WG too.

FH’s e ring is wood and resin coated. I got off Etsy, we’re just waiting on the bigger size to arrive but he insists on wearing the tight one in the meantime lol. Once we get him a wedding band, the e ring will become a RHR. I don’t think FH would pick a typical metal- plat, WG, YG, RG but we’ll see when the time comes!

    I went with platinum:

    -Doesn’t need rhodium plating/re-dipping

    -Hypoallergenic

-Loses very little metal when scratched

FH’s ring is tungsten carbide, due to it’s strength & scratch resistance.

ivvy :  I voted other. I have a white gold engagement ring, but my wedding band will be yellow gold with some engraving embelleshments. My fiance wanted a yellow gold, and I kind of wanted ut to match a little – plus I don’t hate the mixed metal look.

I didn’t want more diamonds. I know most girls love bands with more diamonds and sparkle, but I just felt like – I already got my sparkle, he already spent a ton of money giving me a giant diamond, what do I need more for? – No shame to any ladies who get a diamond band of course!!! It just wasn’t for me.

Platinum baby!  Although sometimes I wish I would have done white gold so I could mix with rose gold

Yellow gold. It looks best with my skin tone and I prefer the way my sapphire looks in a yellow gold setting over the other options.

I have white gold but had always imagined a yellow gold ring. I’m more than happy my husband picked out WG, though! I love it.

I have a white gold engagement ring with a rose gold wedding band. And sometimes I stack a yellow gold band that was my grandmother’s. Love mixed metals!

I voted other, because my engagement ring is silver and our wedding bands are 14K yellow gold.

I wear a lot of jewelry normally, but all of it is silver. So while I first thought about WG and RG for our wedding rings, I’m glad we picked YG in the end, as it is really special for me having a gold ring.

I had platinum for my engagement right/wedding band from my first marriage and I hated the patina.  It scratches and bends so easily that i had to have it reshaped many times.

I have white gold this time around and it’s so nice and shiny and doesn’t bend because it is so hard!

ETA:  My jeweler has a specific alloy mixture and the white gold doesn’t need to be dipped.  Or I haven’t had to dip one of my rings in over 8 years and it is still super white.
