I have got to share this story, because I’m sure all the stressed out brides need something to laugh about. Today, you can laugh at me.
I’ve been in several weddings and I’ve always told the brides, “You can’t stress on your wedding day, because it will never go exactly as planned.” Fortunately when it came time for me to tie the knot, I repeated that saying to myself over and over. Because I was going to need to remember it!
I joked to my now husband the day before our wedding– “watch, we’re going to get poo’ed on on our wedding day.” He laughed this off.. because really I have a history with birds. They hate me. I get poo’ed on all the time, so why should my wedding day be any different? I told my husband that’s why we were spending the money on a fancy canopy for the beach “at least they’ll poo on the canopy and not my face.”… if it just weren’t for the “first look” shot.
The photographer told us, “this is the time to express yourself… these are the ‘over the fireplace’ photos… laugh, cry, do whatever feels right.” They didn’t say– “watch out for the birds.”
So, yes, right in the middle of our canoodling… my soon to be husband telling me how beautiful I looked– SPLAT!!– a huge pelican dropped one ALL OVER US! It was horrible. We hadn’t even taken one real picture yet! At first I screamed.. Are you serious?! But I repeated again “it will never go exactly as planned.” So then, I laughed… and couldn’t stop laughing. Some Shout Wipes and hankies later, we were back to taking pictures and on to our ceremony.
So ladies, it won’t go as planned. And when it doesn’t, stay poised. No need to be a Bridezilla on your wedding day.

I’m so glad that you can already look back on this and laugh (many brides wouldn’t be able to). I’m sure this is a memory and photo you will both look back on foundly and will share with future grandchildren!
