So, I just had to put in my two cents here… i really, really think your best option is to get a dress made for you. You may find someone in your area, but if not, why not try etsy?

I was just on there looking for a birdcage veil, and I found this seamstress who REALLY seems to know what she is doing. Although she’s not making my dress, I am totally, totally, totally going to have her make something for me in the future…

Good luck!

did you check out davids’ bridal.  There was a whole other post on how they stepped up their game.  they also always have sales 99 dollar dresses. Also their reg. prices are reasonable.  I purchased mine for 400 dollars.  And am looking at 100 dollars for alterations.

Gojane.com has some white dresses that could totally pass and my new fave – unique-vintage.com has the most precious stuff in the world… including a dress I may wear for my reception.  Most dresses on gojane are <$100 and unique-vintage is usually <$300. I would also look for white prom dresses.  Good luck!

Okay so I know I already posted but I was doing some online clothes shopping and I saw this dress at Ann Taylor.  How beautiful!  And ann taylor always has coupons going around that could make it closer to $400.

And here are some fab gowns I found on preownedweddingdresses.com that seem to be in your size/price range.
