To other Oregon bride….
I need your help. I need to know where you have been looking at wedding dresses. I have tried:
and a shop in Salem……
and with no luck. I was wondering where other brides in the Portland/Metro area have looked.

leaving my first comment!
i was recommended “anna’s bridal” in lake oswego by my wedding coordinator for off-the-rack, but they have dresses you can order as well. are you trying to find a dress on a budget? if so, i found richele kay bridal, which i will also be checking out. 🙂
i am having to buy my dress off-the-rack because a)my husband (we signed papers first) is in the military b) i’m overseas and flying into portland in a few days and c) our ceremony/reception is at the end of december this year!
IF you’re willing to make the drive to seattle, 3-3.5 hours, they have a LOT of shops with beautiful selections, many affordable as well: bellevue bridal, amanda’s bridal, drea k (also does phenomenal alterations according to reviews), i do bridal (they don’t allow pictures), la belle elaine’s, cynderellie’s closet. these are the ones that i saved to check out after reading reviews on yelp. 🙂
good luck in your search for the perfect dress!

I hav been to Richele Key but they have tended to have alot of plus size dresses. I did try on about 6 there and I keep up on there facebook page about all the new dresses that come into the store as well.
I went to Anna’s Bridal last weekend and I might have found a dress. I am going back this Saturday to make sure, or at least get another look at it. (I am not buying a dress until I am approvded for a credit card, I want some frequent flyer miles).
I am so not willing to go to Seattle, the main reason being I really want my fiance to be there when I pick the dress, his opinion is the only one I really care about and he is in school 6 days a week for 8-9 hours a day and the one day he is not in school he is working.
Where is your venue? I am so excited to talk to another Oregon bride.

I got my dress from the Ania collection. I know, I know, they have Lazaro, Paloma Blanca, all of the expensive brands so they’re a higher end store. BUT, I went in with the intentions of getting a dress to have replicated, and left with a Paloma Blanca sample that I got for 68% off! I wound up paying $1100 for it, retailed for over $3k. DEFINITELY check them out and look into the sample option!
I had another Maggie dress I had purchased that I left at Richele Kay and found exactly what you did- people just do not know about it and there isn’t much selection. My dress didn’t sell and I wound up gifting it to Brides Against Breast cancer. Their store is just too small and they don’t have much of anything.
Definitely check out Ania though, my consultant was Rachel and she was the SWEETEST! Taller girl, red hair. I highly suggest making an appointment with her!

@PacificMrs: They are right downtown and near my work. I can go in and at least look around, there is nothing wrong with that. I have a dress I have been trying to sell a dress I bought (big oops) online and have had very little success. I am going to bring it to Richele Kay and see what they can do with it and hopefully they can sell it for something.

@Day_In_The_Life: we have the governor hotel booked – i have the renaissance room for my ceremony and the grand ballroom for our reception. they actually gave us a stellar deal. there was a lot of family drama with the wedding, so i wasn’t really all that excited about it, but after working with our wedding coordinator, Bridal Bliss, i am extremely excited! they’ve been making all the pieces fit together! it’s a relief, especially when you’re trying to do some preliminary planning from overseas!
i don’t want my husband to see the dress before, i already know what he likes, but i totally see why you wouldn’t want to make the trek up to seattle! it IS a long drive… 🙂
have you booked your venue? there are SO many options in oregon! I LOVE the NW 🙂

@eeeeeunji: I am getting married at the Abernethy Center in Oregon City with an outside ceremony and an inside reception. The site is doing so much and that is amazing, they take care of food, drink, linens, dishes, clean up, security, everything. I wanted an all-inclusive venue so I would have to worry about things less. However, it ate up about half of the budget, which I guess is normal with everything they are doing.
There is a TON of family drama with my wedding from both sides so that is not fun, I am hoping that after we are married it will all calm down and everyone will just be happy we are married.
I would kill for a wedding coordinator, but that is a little outside my budget. Have you found a photographer or videographer or a DJ? Those are the next big things on my list.
Oregon is a great state, I realized that after I was away for almost a decade and living in Iowa.

@Day_In_The_Life: Sorry, I’ve been away for so long! I guess everyone has a family drama? haha. that’s one of the reasons why we’ve been marrried over a year and suddenly having to rush a wedding in 3 months. really annoying, but it’s now or never! I’m sure things will be fine after the wedding 🙂
I totally know what you’re talking about for all-inclusive. The Gov doesn’t allow outside catering or alcoholic beverages, so it’s getting to be really expensive…they charge per drink, because of the OLCC law, so it’s $7.50 for each of our drinks. We wanted his and her cocktails, but decided against it, because if everyone gets 2 drinks, depending on how many guests we have, it’ll be $2250-$3000!!
I decided that the wedding coordinator was a must. I recommend at least hiring one for consultations or just the day-of/month-of. They have given me so many recommendations and I have been getting discounts from other vendors for working with them.
My photographer is Powers. Videographer – possibly Moving Motion Pictures, and I’m meeting with a potential DJ this Wednesday (Paradox Productions). 🙂
I found my dress yesterday at Anna’s Bridal. I’m reserving my room blocks this week and probably will be reserving my spot with someone for hair & makeup. 🙂
