When did your drs start checking the position of the baby? I’m going for my 34 week appt in a few days and my dr has never checked. I’m convinced this baby is not head down which I know can happen at any time but it’d be nice to know.

Hmm seems a little odd that she wouldn’t have checked – mine has checked at all the appointments by just feeling my belly – she would feel before taking the heartbeat so she knew where to look. I’d say she’s checked ever since she could tell the position just by feeling? Definitely ask about it if you are concerned the baby isn’t head-down!

Mine is checking at my 35 week appointment this week. She’s happened to see the position before in ultrasounds, but because the baby’s likely to move around so much, she hasn’t actually been looking for the position till now.

My dr was going to give me a quick ultrasound at 35 weeks to make sure baby is head down. Definitely ask the dr when you’re there. Maybe they can tell by feeling and just don’t mention it to you?

You’re around the point where my midwife started checking at all of my appointments. I know some doctors start checking and telling you WAY early on, which personally I dislike because the baby changed positions so frequently in the first couple of trimesters and can get you all worked up about nothing if the baby is breech at that point. I’d ask at this appointment for them to check and tell you. I’ve never needed an ultrasound for it, they just press on my stomach and find baby’s heartbeat.

My dr checks everytime when she does the doppler/feels my tummy. I have 2 more u/s, 31 weeks and around 34/36 I think. So she’ll know for sure with the later u/s, but they can always move around after that too. I can usually tell by where I feel certain movement too.
