The most positive thing to happen for me was my sex drive. It went from almost non-existent to pretty high. Both Darling Husband and I are loving it! As far as cramps go, mine are not bad at all, but they weren’t bad before either. I do keep a heating pad and some ibuprofen around just in case. I think there will be positives and negatives, but once your body adjusts hopefully it won’t be too bad for you.

I went off the pill in March in preparation for TTC after our wedding in a couple weeks.  I didn’t have any bad side effects except my skin – I break out around my period which I never had before.  It sucks.  BUT the sex drive increase is awesome.

I started to like having sex again. I got way less bitchy. I stopped getting yeast infections. I stopped gaining weight. I started to have fewer migraines.

I agree with everyone about the sex drive– that perk was pretty awesome. I feel like my moods are better, though I do get PMS-y worse than on the pill. The negative side effects are my face is more oily and prone to breakouts, and obviously periods are less predictable. The first month or so I got some awful menstrual migraines as the hormones worked themselves out of my system, but those are pretty much gone.

I used to be like you with the horrible cramps, so I was really nervous for that part, but for the most part, since going off the pill my periods and cramps haven’t been that much worse than on the pill! Its like what you said, advil for a day, MAYBE I need the heating pad once a month or less. So much better than before I went on the pill. It’s not necessarily like that for everyone, but I consider myself very lucky. Maybe I grew out of it?

I started to truly find out what was going on with my body.  Birth control hid the issues and then made them worse when I went off because it further unbalanced my hormones.  That might not sound positive but it is.  I found out about a problem that I’ve had for years and just not known it and can fix it before it causes other more serious issues.

I was on the 3 months on 1 week off pills… I mostly was on them to not get my period / ignore my period as my as possible…

Now with TTC I am forced to pay attention to my body… I feel like my periods are a little stronger off the BC…. like cramps hurt a little more… I’m a little bit more moody… I get more cravings for sweets…etc

Not a huge increase in sex drive… i must admit that was pretty disappointing… But luckily my cycles seem to be normal…

Good Luck

I’ve been off the pill since April after being on for 13 years and, aside from wildly unpedictable period timing, not much has changed.

My periods are slightly longer, but I was on a 28 day active pill before, so that’s to be expected. It was much heaverier one cycle but the rest have been about the same as when I was on the pill.

I have had no change in mood, including no change to my sex drive, which I have always considered fairly average both on and off the pill.

No headaches, no breaking out, no mood swings, nothing!

All in all, I consider the switch to be fairly lame. I’m not swinging from the bedposts, but I’m also not flying into emotional rages. Just status quo….

Drive is about the only thing I am thankful for. And it has come back…full force =)

I went off the pill last month, so not too long ago. But so far, the big positive for me is my increased sex drive. I also feel like my mood has definitely improved and I just feel happier overall.
