I think you look perfectly hourglass in your latest photos, whereas in the first photos you look more top-heavy. I suspect you’ve lost a lot of your weight in your upper body – arms and bust – and that’s why you feel like your hips are larger in comparison. In reality I think it just makes you look more balanced out. I would say that the dress probably needs to be taken in around the hips though, I think the bulk is from excess fabric. But otherwise it looks beautiful on you!

@bmo88:  You seriously look absolutely stunning!!! I do not think you look bulky at all, you have a lovely hourglass figure in that dress. Seriously, it’s gorgeous. I wouldn’t  try to take it in around the thighs at all myself… My dress is essntially the same shape as your’s, and if anything I think tightening it around the thighs will make your hips look bigger, and also “shorten” you a bit. Are you trying the dress on with heels? I know putting heels on helped me envision my dress a bit (I’m 5′ and should’ve had a size 10, but the sample was an 8 so I was squeezed into it and putting on the heels made me look a little thinner and show how lovely the dress would be when it wasn’t bunching on the floor). Also by how much is it too long? The bottom reminds me of my dress, which absolutely cannot be shortened by the seamstress… They had to custom order the hem length to my height. So if you can wear heels and avoid shortening it then do that, so you don’t lose the beauty of the trimming on the hem.

I think it looks stunning on you!  I think after alterations, when it actually fits/is pulled in, you’ll feel much better.

You look awesome in your dress!  I agree with CiaArielle about not doing the alterations in the thighs or making it shorter.  It looks awesome and have it altered to fit your new size will make it that much better 🙂

@bmo88:  if they said it could be hemmed then it can 🙂 my dress has no spot around the bodice where they could raise it, it’s a continuous flow of fabric all the way down. Lol and I need to wear heels!!! My Fiance is 5’9″, and all my bridesmaids are much taller than me and they all begged to wear heels (namely my 14 year old sister) so I have to. I know I will always look shorter than everyone around me, but I don’t need to look even shorter than normal on my wedding day! Lol

You look so pretty in your dress. Not only is your dress lovely, but you look stunning in it. I agree with PP’s that you look more hourglass in your second set of pictures. Your body looks enviable! 🙂
