I had my body timetable thrown out by a long-haul flight (you could try that?! Lol) It meant I had it on the day.
I don’t find it painful, fortunately, so just used did my normal thing and it was fine. If you don’t find it painful either I wouldn’t worry too much. I used a tampon AND a pad together just in case but it wasn’t necessary.

Normally at least for me, the first day isn’t a very heavy flow. Is it like that for you too? If you start taking light painkillers a few days beforehand and/or get injections for pain on the day, the pain should be less. Start drinking lots of water to reduce bloating, eat banana for potassium.

I have the kind of periods where I use a cup, a night time pad and wear period pants, and I still have to change everything every couple of hours for the first 2 days. No way am I putting up with that during impractical occasions. I don’t want to use ongoing birth control so about once every couple of years – for holidays, events etc – I get a prescription of Norethisterone and it works perfectly. I’m in the UK though so I have no idea if it’s available everywhere. We can even order it from a pharmacy online here, I went to the doctor for my first one, now I just get it from Boots.

I am in the UK and had it prescribed by my GP as I was due my period in the middle of a family holiday. I am also not on any birth control, and this was not a problem.
I took it for a few days before my period was due and kept taking it until I returned my holiday. My period didn’t actually return for another few days beyond that. I felt a little bloated but otherwise fine. It did also slightly mess with my cycle, as the next month my period came early. Other than that it was worth it to not have to worry about my period in swim wear etc.

I would avoid taking that supplement and just be prepared.
Have some tampons and advil ready, even buy a pair of Thinx to be prepared for extra leaking just in case.

Thanks Bee’s for all the advice. I already have an appointment set up with my doctor. I plan on doing everything I can to avoid my period that day. Maybe this month when it comes it will be screwy like last month.
But like another bee said I am not even going to take the chance of bleeding in a $2500 dress and there is no way in hell I’m wearing a pad down the aisle on a hot day in August!
