- Wedding: October 2010
Because I am full of weddingy questions this morning:
We had always planned to have the ceremony/reception at my Mom’s lake house. It’s small, but big enough for our 30 people, right on the water, surrounded by trees, and free. We would need to pay for the table and chair rental, which, if we transported them ourselves would be $70.00. If we didn’t, it would be $230.00.
However, we lately got a fantastic hotel recommendation for our Out of Town guests. So I’m looking at their site, and it turns out they have an event room, on the property, but in it’s own building. It has a kitchenette, bathroom, and comes with the tables and chairs. It’s $107.00 total to rent. Mom went and looked, and she said it’s beautiful.
So first we started talking about renting this place in case of rain. But then we started talking about whether or not I want to just use that, get a caterer, and do it there.
I always envisioned an outdoor wedding, so that would be lost. We could still have the Rehearsal Dinner at the lake, so I’d still get to use the beautiful space. I just don’t know what I want. I’d sacrifice the outdoors, therefore the scenery for the ceremony and reception. I’d gain peace of mind if there was rain, more space, and not having to worry about the cooking myself. Also, quite a bit of things would change, I wouldn’t want the BBQ-y feel inside, but this does not hurt anything I’ve DIY-d already.
Obviously, I’m going to look at it when we’re in the state this weekend, but if I like it, I’d probably want to book it this weekend.
What do we think?
