I love the second one. I really like plain shank halos with an eternity band for the wedding band! Such a pretty look.

@quierajen:  Ooo ooo ooo that first option was one of my finalists, it is gorgeous!!! Have you seen IRL photos of it? A few gals on the BTD forums bought that setting and it looks a thousand times better in real life.

I wouldn’t worry about the bad reviews of moissyco, if I were you. I did not buy my setting from them, so I think I’m somewhat impartial. I’ve never seen a legitimate complaint against moissyco but I have seen them go above & beyond to make a customer happy. I think they might be having problems of getting too popular too fast, but their products are still excellent, by all accounts.

Can you post a photo of the diamond ring you originally wanted?

@quierajen:  Oh gosh that’s lovely…but so different from the moissyco rings. Have you tried posting on the BTD forums? There might be a vendor there who could help you find a similar setting in your price range.

If not, those halo rings truly are stunning. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. And of course, personally, I’d much rather have a moissanite than anything else. (:

ETA have you already looked into getting that sapphire setting without a centre stone? Would a CZ placeholder make it an option?

My ering is very much like the first one.  I didn’t get my setting from Moissaniteco, but it’s still a very similar style.  I love the daintyness of it, but I think the thicker band of the second one will be more durable.

@valintine: “I wouldn’t worry about the bad reviews of moissyco, if I were you. I did not buy my setting from them, so I think I’m somewhat impartial. I’ve never seen a legitimate complaint against moissyco but I have seen them go above & beyond to make a customer happy”

I have made legitimate complaints about MoissaniteCo, and I have spoken with others who have had not exactly stellar experiences as well.

I’m glad you had a great experience but I didn’t. I was sent a ring mounted with a green moissanite and had to pay a $200 (maybe more!) dollar restocking fee because the stone was horrible and never should’ve passed quality control. They were unapologetic and the only recourse they offered was A) Replace the stone with an Asha (but no offer to refund the difference, and the Asha was valued at way less than the moissanite) or B) I pay extra to have the stone swapped with an Amora moissanite (this was last year when Amoras were in stock) or C) I ship the ring back and pay a restocking fee. So in the end they got a substantial amount of money from me and I have nothing to show for it. That is poor customer service IMO.

I still have pictures, the stone was green. It was a heart shaped unenhanced which *at the time* was touted to be a J color equivalent on the website. J is warm, not green. So basically I bought something thinking it was something else entirely, had to send it back, and still had to pay them a hefty fee with nothing to show for it. They didn’t even offer to try to hand-select me an equivalently priced unenhanced moissanite that wasn’t green to replace the bad stone with. Nowadays I believe they only sell Forever Brilliant heart shape, which is a step in the right direction, at least.

Pics or it didn’t happen: “J” Colored unenhanced heart moissanite next to my old promise ring which has H-J colored diamonds

I would never discourage someone from buying from MoCo if they have their dream ring, but I do think it’s important to take all reviews into account and obviously some reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, but that doesn’t mean all negative reviews should be discounted.

I wholeheartedly believe that the OP should order from MoCo if she has found something that makes her heart sing and feels comfortable doing so. I have seen some stunning rings from them posted. In fact, a couple of my favorite rings on the Bee have come from MoCo, which is why I was so sorely disappointed with my experience as I had heard nothing but good things and initially had no reservations about placing my order with them. Unfortunately, it did not ultimately work out as I had hoped it would. I was very excited about this ring (my husband ordered it for my birthday) and very disappointed in the overall outcome. It was improperly sized, to boot.

Obviously OP is not ordering a fancy shape so she should not have color issues like I had, but what disappointed me more than the ring coming to me with a green stone was the customer service followthrough. This was my personal experience but I know many others have described very pleasant transactions with the company. I am not trying to make anyone who has a ring from MoCo uncomfortable or anything, so please don’t think that.

Just my two cents.

@starla:  Hi Starla, I am sorry that you didn’t have a positive experience shopping with our company.  There have been some changes at our company since you placed the order.  For example, we now sell only color enhanced fancy cut Moissanites in several shapes including the heart cut, oval and radiant.  These are shapes that do tend to show more color, and since we have made the switch we have had very few returns in these shapes due to color.  Unfortunately C&C’s quality control when it comes to color of regular Moissanites can leave something to be desired and so our solution was to only sell the color enhanced Moissanites set in our jewelry in these particular shapes.

Concerning the offer extended to exchange for an Asha, we have done this several times for customers, and we have never required that it be an even exchange because, as you point out, the Asha is less expensive.  However if you didn’t express any interest in the offer, we likely didn’t get to the point where we would have discussed the details of the exchange.

There is a small restocking fee (5%) on 14k gold items that are returned for a refund.  I was able to find your order based on the date you posted your original view on weddingbee and also the ring you purchased. Since you have posted the info about the restocking fee on your order publicly, I need to make one correction: it was about $60, not over $200 (is it possible you are confusing us with another vendor?).  If you ever were interested in purchasing something from us, either on MoissaniteCo or AshaDiamonds, we would be happy to extend store credit to you for the amount of the restocking fee. Just send us an email prior to placing your order, and we would be happy to assist you.

@mikec:  Thanks for the reply, you are right about the $200 restocking fee I remembered NOT being correct.

I looked back into our PayPal records after reading your reply and the *exact* restocking fee we paid on the ring was $86.75. In other words, 5% as you said.

I am not sure why I remembered it being much higher (my husband is the one who handled the transaction). I would not knowingly misrepresent something like that and I am glad it was pointed out. I don’t want to leave dishonest reviews, this was a case of a bad memory or confusion and it’s good to know the precise amount for future reference. I do apologize for the mixup/misrepresentation!

Unfortunately, other than that, everything else I mentioned stands. I’m glad that you say things are changing now and I did notice (and mention) that now hearts and other fancy shapes are now only sold enhanced, which is a good thing. And thanks very much for the generous offer of giving me store credit towards the restocking fee.
