MsGinkgo :  bright red is the cutoff, I believe.  The other one I’ve seen is “needs a pad/tampon” however.. so your sister sounds like she might have to be an exception to the rule!

MsGinkgo :  FX it’s fine!  Since CD3 wasn’t an option, you can’t really beat yourself up over it.

MsGinkgo :  I hope so too!  I totally know the worry: I myself got some things checked out at the beginning of this cycle (not CD specific, it just happened to be at the beginning of this cycle..) just for peace of mind.  It was very very worth it.  I hope this does the same for you.

I almost asked this exact same question the other day. Your cycle sounds indentical to mine. I am taking Femara CD 3-7 this month and I had some spotting before I actually started my flow. I wasn’t sure which should be considered CD 1 but I went with first day of full flow vs spotting. It seems like I went the right way. Good luck with your blood work!

MsGinkgo :  I hear you on that.  The worst part is first they make you worry by being all like “omg getting pregnant is so easy, just have unprotected sex and it happens immediately” and then you are like “hmm.. that’s not what happened for me.. maybe there is something up..” and then they are like “omg stop worrying, worrying is the problem, just relax.”  AHHH YOU ONLY GET ONE.

MsGinkgo :  not a stupid question! I spot for 1-3 days before AF arrives but you’re supposed to count your period from the first day of full red flow. So for me I don’t count those 1-3 days of spotting as CD anything.

I have a related question… if it starts in the evening does that still count as CD1? I’m new to this whole thing! (And not TTC, just trying to keep track and get into habits)
