I take 3 bc packs in a row and havn’t had any problems. I’ve done it for a year or so now after my doctor said it was ok. So I pretty much just have a period every three months. If you just start your new pack when you’re done with your old pack you shouldn’t get your period. Of course every bc is different so you may get some spotting or what not but it should be fine!

And then you can just focus on being awesome for your photo shoot, have fun!

@Terryal87:  The drop in hormone levels signals your body. By continuing onto a new pack you are preventing a hormone drop. It won’t screw up your cycle if you do so, it will just change it by one week if you decide to skip. Our cycles typically come around 3 days earlier each month anyways, so a few days wont make a huge difference.

PP’s explanation of BC is good, so I’ll answer your other question.  Unless you’ll be horribly bloated or headachey, I would go ahead with the photo shoot.  Its not like they’re gonna be taking pictures all up in your crotch and see the tampon string or something.  I typically feel like a slob right before my period at the 1st day, but then I feel great- so I would do it if it was in those later days.

Take your BC back to back and skip your period.  As said above me, there wouldn’t be any shots that revealed your tampon string (unless you were asking for explicit shots) but I wouldn’t risk the water weight 🙂

I take BC back to back all the time. In fact I’m going on vacation next week, so I’ve already started my back to back pack. I never have any break through bleeding.

My main reason for not wanting a period during a boudoir shoot would be the bloating. I always feel fat then!

Skip the sugar pills 100%, just start the next pack when you should be on sugar pills. Once pack #2 is over, you can take those sugar pills form pack #2.

If you have never skipped pills before, I wouldn’t risk doing it this close before your wedding. Some people just skip their period, but other people have different reactions. When I skip pills, I’m fine the week that I was supposed to have my period, and then have my period for an ENTIRE MONTH afterward. And, my boobs go up an entire cup size, which could be a problem with fitting in your dress. I would just continue with your cycle normally. If it’s a few days in, you shouldn’t still have bloating, and the tampon shouldn’t be a problem unless you are planning on having full on crotch pictures.

Skip the sugar pills and go right into a new pack.  I did this a couple of years ago when Darling Husband and I were in Cuba. I didn’t want to have it so I skipped the sugar pills.  I had a tiny bit of spotting the next week (literally a couple of drops that’s it) and no problems. Tons of women do this, it’s no biggie.

If your BC is monophasic, meaning it has the same amount of hormones for every week, you should be ok to just take the next pack.  If it’s a bi or tri phasic, meaning the hormones  mimic your natural cycle, you might have more issues.  You’ll have to look at the pack to know.  My BC is GenericBrand 1.5/30… but anything with the words “bi” or “tri” is suspect.  Additionally, it should have the amount of hormones on the packaging.  But as others have suggested, everyone’s body is different.  Be prepared for spotting, having a period at the “wrong” time, or simply not getting one.  A phone call to your Ob/Gyn wouldn’t hurt either just to make sure there’s nothing else to look out for/specific to you.  And since this is your first time skipping pills, your body may still react to its natural cycles and you may still get the bloating or the bleeding because your body hasn’t adjusted yet.

I use generic Lutera, and skip sugar pills when something like a vacation is coming up. I’ve never had any problems. Do as your doctor said and start early so you can adjust if necessary. Carry a tampon or panty liner just in case. Don’t be worried 🙂

I’ve skipped periods on multiple occasions. The only thing I will say is that I did still get a teeny bit bloaty that week even though no aunt flo, so if that will bother you with boudoir shot then I would see if there is any other possible time to do it, but I think you should really be fine no matter what you decide to do! It sounds like your period isn’t super intrusive anyways.
