Hey bees,
I went off my bc a few days ago after my last withdrawal bleed – and am experiencing SAVAGE pms-like symptoms: cramping/bloating, impatience, irritability and occasional full-blown rage. Anyone else feel a little wonky OFF the pill?

Your body is going into hormone withdrawal/adjustment. You are no longer adding those extra hormones in you. My best friend is an OBGYN and explained it to me once. 🙂
I went through the same thing many years ago when I went off it for a couple years. But it finally all regulates itself out 🙂

juneweddingbee : Thank you!!!! It seems like everyone I talk to says they feel so much better off of it, I was wondering what was wrong with me! Hopefully I feel back to normal sooner rather than later!

busybee86 : I’m sure you will! You just need a bit if time. It can regulate very quickly or take a few months. Luckily it was only a couple of months for me.

I’m on my second period post Skyla IUD removal and holy lord. The cramp pain level is just unreal as is the heaviness of flow. I’m hoping this is just an adjustment! My PMS has also been pretty bad too! I didn’t have painless periods before birth control but this is definitely more than I remember! I’ve also had 2, 26 day cycles which is short for me. I was 28-30 pre birth control and also while on the IUD.

I essentially experienced postpartum hair loss 😫 my skin got really dry for a while as well. It took a little over a year to adjust.

busybee86 : your body now needs to figure out how to operate on its own and manufacture hormones on its own. Liver support herbs and glutathione should help.

I had pms stuff like sore boobs for the first time when off birth control. Interestingly, I had lighter periods for all 7ish cycles I was off birth control before getting pregnant

I had insane headaches. The worst headaches I’ve ever had in my life. Ibuprofen wouldn’t even touch them. They went on every day for a few months until I just went back on the pill. It was horrific. I wasn’t TTC so I was able to do that. Besides that I just didn’t get my period for a few months.

chitownyogini : when I temporarily stopped the pill a few years ago I got postpartum like hair loss too! I haven’t experienced it yet post IUD tho! Fingers crossed. I’m still growing back from the hair loss.

els2016 : The regrowth was the worse than the thinning IMO! I have a copper IUD now, I love it.

busybee86 : I had to get switched to a continuous pill because as soon as I had the first no-kill day each month I literally wanted to watch the world burn…like si bad it makes me wonder if that’s why you dont seen many women in control of armies, because during those times I’m sure I’d just be like “mutually assured destruction? F-ING GOOD, LIGHT ER UP!” Lmao
