Fiance and I went to the beach in May and man, was I in goood shape for that trip. I worked out so hard and can’t look back at the pics without feeling a tinge of jealousy for that skinyy little b—- that I was back then! Not that I was itty bitty, I was a healthy, toned size 8-10 and I was fiiiiine. 😉 I mean, best shape of my life fiiiineee.
Ok, so now…I’ve lost it! I haven’t gained *weight*, per se, but I’ve lost the tone — and I feel like a flabby whale. 🙁 I’m in a size 10-12 pants and ugh, I know it could be worse, but I can’t believe I went from a sexy beach bronzed babe to a can i please just wear sweatpants and a sweat shirt to dinner?
Where do I start? I was the queen of fitness, and now I’m stuck, stuck, stuck! I still run 2-3 days a week and go to spin class once a week. But my eating habits are out of control. I’m so angry with myself!! I think since getting engaged I have hit that horrible “comfortable” zone (you know, the “he’s not going anywhere so i can turn into a whale” zone.) It’s like I can’t even remember how to eat properly. I know “how” to, but I can’t make myself do it. Anyone know how to help? Been here before?

Yeah i am going through the same thing! I was soo on the fitness train over the summer, and let me tell you, i looked good! we got in engaged in october and even a little before that, i jus…stopped caring i guess. i stopped working out and started eat mor junk food. yuck.
my Fiance and I have been talking about this, and he is actually getting back into shape, good for him, and he is trying to encourage me to do the same. luckily, he thinks i am the best looking girl, well ever (thank GOD!) but i still want to be happy with myself.
for me, the first thing i need to do, is get off my butt!
ok come on you can do it too! haha

Boy do I know how that feels! I trained for a 10km run a year ago, and I was in the best shape of my LIFE! But then I quit running because my running partener got injured (lame excure, I know) and gained back some of the weight I had lost. That said, I am doing P90X right now and I already feel much better. So you can get back into the fitness fray too!
Don’t beat yourself up. Each day is a new day. You have probably slipped back into old habits – this happens sometimes, especially things your thought you had conquered. Pick one thing you want to improve on about your eating, and do that. It could be as simple as switching to whole grain pasta, or packing a healthy lunch for work each day. Then once that is routine, pick another thing you would like to improve on with your eating habits, and concentrate on that. Trying to change too much all at once is likely to leave you feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.
Exercising – you already pointed out you are a runner, which is great cardiovascular exercise. Do you set goals for yourself when you run, or just “go for a run”? Setting goals gives you something tangible to work towards. For example, saying “in three months I want to run 10 km without stopping”. I am not sure what your current running level is, but you get the idea! Always set goals, and work towards them. Try and incorporate some intervals as well – hills if you run outside, incline if on the treadmill.

I am so in the same boat. I feel like if a wedding can’t motivate me what will!!! I’m a size 10 and am normally a size 6. I have 4 weeks till the wedding, I’m between jobs which means I have lots of time off before the wedding I am exercising but lots of time at home makes me go to the fridge lots more! my snacking is out of control.
I really just want to tone up more than loose pounds. I noticed lots of bees rave about the 30 day shred, so I have bought the DVD and am waiting for it to arrive.
when is your big day? message me! Maybe we can motivate each other to move our buts!

i was healthy and toned when i was in college 4 years ago, then i started a new job and i lost a few more lbs because i wasn’t eating properly. ever since i started grad school i’ve been in such a rut and my eating habits have been horrible. i’ve gained back all the weight and a little more since i was in college.
i’ve been out of commission these last few months due to a knee injury (patella tendonitus ouch). i just started back at the gym on tuesday and last night i pulled out my old pilates videos that i did every day in college (which definitely helped keep me toned). it was so painful to do those videos again, i couldn’t believe it! i also felt like a fat cow doing them.
i only have 9 months until we get married and i’m terrified of shopping for a dress because i’m afraid i’m going to feel huge in them. i’m a size 10 too, but i was a size 8 and smaller for a while.
like swissbride said, let me know if you want a motivational buddy!

You know how most people try to lose weight before the wedding? I think I’m going to try to lose weight after the wedding. I’m sooo exhausted with all the planning, I just don’t have time to work out. Yeah, I could make time, but I will grin and bear it through the honeymoon full of bikini clad days. And then start working out. You know, when I’m not trying to make sample centerpieces and gift boxes and crap…. lol

I totally feel you! I was so good before and it only took like 6 months! I tried to do cardio at least 3 times per week even if it was a short mile run/jog. I then started weight training. Since I wasn’t doing that much cardio, I cut my calories down to like 1,200 per day and the weight came off and the muscles moved in.
So now, I have gone from like a 10/12 to a 14/16 and I can’t seem to get back into the grove of eating right and exercising. I am really have to get my Fiance on board and hopefully after the new years start up again.
