Oh no!  Can you peel it off?  I have been able to peel them off before.  Don’t the king queen stamps equal 88 cents though?  Still, he should have checked first, I get it.

Ugh.  Yes, the customer service @ the post office is usually THE WORST 🙁  If it makes you feel any better, your overseas guests probably won’t even really notice the envelopes, so it’s probably going to be just fine.

The King and Queen stamps are 44 cents each, so two of them is only 88 cents. When I brought my save the dates to the post office, they wouldn’t let me hand cancel them because “they weren’t bulky enough for that.” I saw the one that was delivered to my brother’s apartment and it had such a huge cancel across it that you couldn’t even read our return address stickers! I wasn’t happy. Why wouldn’t she let me cancel them? It’s not like she had to do it!

Stupid post office!  I am mad at them because four or five invites have still not arrived at their destinations and I mailed them two weeks ago.  They weren’t sent back to me so they are just floating around out there somewhere.  I am pissed because they were DIY and now I have to make five new ones.

I’m sorry but when I saw your title I chuckled because I have had all kinds of problems with the post office and it just has become a joke of a place.  Sorry that he did that I would be ticked too!

btw. my latest encounter with them. I took our invites and RSVP cards up there to get the exact postage.  I did what they said.  The next day I got one invite returned and handwritten on it was “short 20 cents”.  The invite went to my mom’s next door neighbor. So I called mom and asked if she had gotten her’s and she had.  In fact people in Hawaii got their invitation but yet the one here in my home town didn’t.  So I gave it to my mom to put in their mailbox.  Guess what?! The mailman took it out and sent it back to me! LOL!  That poor invite was all marked up and ugly 🙁

UHG! I sent my little sister a regular singing card for valentines day. the envelope had a space for ONE stamp. so i put it there (because it was just traveling 20 miles away) and we waited. ONE MONTH and they finally get a pick up notice and they TRY TO CHARGE MY SISTER FOR THE EXTRA POSTAGE, they sent it back to me and it is not even recognizable. tears and writing and stamps all over it. I was pissed

@ Miss Chirpie:  They told me it would cost 25 cents apiece to hand cancel!  Yeah right.  I was not paying that.  How can this place charge a quarter per envelope and other places don’t?

I hate to be “preachy” but this information might help future brides. My mom has worked for the post office for 15 years (meaning I get to hand cancel my invites- yay! lol) so I know a lot of the ins and outs of the USPS. It is really best to take one invitation to the post office beforehand and have them weigh it and tell you the postage and show you different options for stamps. You could also go to the USPS website and see all of the stamp choices on there. If your envelopes are square, it will cost more (not because of the weight but because they cannot be sorted by machine most of the time). And be careful about printing addresses with an inkjet home printer onto your envelopes or onto labels because this ink tends to smear if the invitation was to get wet, which could slow up the delivery process or get the invitation sent back to you! I hope this is helpful to everyone :]

Aw, don’t worry too much! I was thinking, and honestly, of all the weddings I’ve been to, I can’t remember anything about the stamp or writing on the envelope!Smile Hopefully your overseas guests will be like me!
