@sienna76:  Your photography and “venue” is so stinkin’ beautiful, it brings a tear to my eye lol.

It sort of makes me rethink cutting costs on a photographer..

Ours came in around $4,000 I think. Here are just a few pics that i had already uploaded.

My DIY Bouquet, I did mine and my Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets for about $50 total.

We made a wagon wheel light and hanging firefly mason jars. You can’t see it but there are LED’s in the jar.

Hand made invitations

A local lady did our cake, it was only $80, I paid my friend to make our cupcakes and I made the little picks and the cake signs.

The top is our centerpieces and the bottom is kind of a “memory box” of pictures that people could look through.

The most expensive thing was photography, we paid $800 but she was wonderful. You can see more pictures and a full budget breakdown on my blog http://debteliminationexperiment.blogspot.com/2013/05/breakdown-of-our-wedding-budget-pictures.html

@sablemuse:  LOL, it was delicious.  Everyobe raved about it…too bad I wasn’t hungry so didn’t eat much but I looked forward to the food after our tasting.  So good.  Wish I could be a guest at my wedding so I can eat the food again LOL.

We spent 4.5k, but it would have been 5.5k if my parents hadn’t payed the balance for the food/cake as a suprise gift 😮

The best advice I can offer is a few nice key things can take your event a long way. Amazing outdoor location with chiavari chairs? the elegence of that means no real need for aisle decor or alter decor.

Also- and this might not be for everyone- instead of “cheaping out” on the whole wedding- I picked what was super importent to me and just modified it to my budget.

My ceremony was very importent to me, but a full bown dinner reception with 11pm danceing just wasn’t going to happen. Not to m to meention a family only wedding was mostly just older people who would leave at 6pm. We embraced this and had our reception at our favorite local restraunt on a sunday at 1pm and they charged us the normal restraunt prices PLUS free room rental. It was over at 4 and everyone was happy!

My favorite local photographer (who was AMAZING) gave me a huge discount becasue my wedding was on a sunday. Also, we only went with 3 hours pf photography. We ended up with over 500 pictures when it was said and done.

You can still have an elegent event and not pay an arm an a leg. I had an amazing cake, crystal trees (diy’ed), a first dance, and an amazing day I’ll always rememeber. It wasn’t a black tie affair- but I still think it was pretty special

The first two are guest pics- but still going in an albun!!!
