It is a tradition in my culture to propose with a ruby on yellow gold ring but FH proposed to me with a diamond on platinum ring (which I love, not complaining at all). We’re adding the ruby ring into my wedding jewelry (will become a right hand ring) and FH is giving me free reign to design what I want. I have always been a simple person who prefers classical designs. Kind of lost as to what I want right now since my engagement ring is simple and classy (solitaire on a plain band) and I wanted the ruby ring to be different but still a simple design (maybe a halo). Post your ruby rings here (please add where you pruchased from) and help inspire me!

My band and prongs around the ruby are yellow gold, but the pave part is in white. We got it from an independent shop in Winchester, UK called Zoe’s.

I got my setting on Loupe Troop and the stone from MoCo.

People probably have seen enough of my ring on this board but just can’t miss a ruby thread 🙂 My fiancé and I are both from Asian cultures that prefer red stones, though I asked for a ruby simply because they are so incredibly beautiful. Mine is set in a very petite halo with a minimalistic profile, so it still looks classic (to me, at least :P)
We purchased the stone and had the ring custom made at a local jewelry store. I’d recommend picking out the stone in person because the color and brilliance really vary, and there isn’t a reliable grading system for rubies like there is for diamonds.
lovelyruby : I drooled after your stunning ring for the longest time when I was waiting for my own!

My 6×4mm ruby in yellow gold 🙂 We bought it from a chain store here in Australia. I had always thought I’d want a white metal, it was FH who had his heart set on yellow gold. But now I can’t imagine having any other colour.

I don’t have one but my Future Mother-In-Law does. It’s in yellow gold and I think it’s gorgeous. Here’s a photo of it (with mine).

These are my ruby bands that I wear together on my right hand. Sorry, they’re not engagement rings but they’re also on yellow gold, if it helps any.
