@Lone Star:  That’s great news that there isn’t anything wrong with your blood work. Hopefully that means when your body does figure it out you will be regular with no issues! Have you already started taking the Pregnitude? Are you able to take it with the prenatal or is that too much folic acid?

@whitefuzzy:  I worry about this. I take Loestrin as a continuous pill (skip placebo pills for 3 packs) and don’t get my period on it, and I wonder what might happen when I go off of it. That said, I switched to taking it the “regular way” (3 weeks pill, 1 week placebo) and still haven’t gotten a period after 5 months. I’ve been told it’s pretty common with this pill, but I still worry about it. I’d be interested to see the statistics on this!

Also, I have a girlfriend who was on Nuvaring for years and went off of it almost 2 years ago. She never got a period, saw doctors, had normal blood work, etc. and then just randomly got pregnant!

@sara79:  I haven’t heard about it being too much folic acid.  The fertility nurse at my doctor raved about it, and my doctor herself had advised taking a prenatal; so I think that they both can be taken together. I’m getting like 1200 mcg/day what with the prenatal and the 2 doses of Pregnitude.  I see no side effects at all.

@MrsJM:  I definitely symptom spot too.  I made a lasagna and the sauce just made me want to hurl. I was SO hopeful! But, no.  I also keep hoping I’ll at least ovulate. It’s funny, the girls in this forum all want to get preg, I just want to see AF first!  I feel like all I’m asking for is the bare minimum here!

@MrsJM:  Congratulations!  I hope you ovulate soon soon soon!

I also got EWCM on Saturday and Sunday.  All my ovulation tests have been negative so far, but we also BD’ed anyway. 🙂 Here’s hoping light at the end of the tunnel for us!!!

Have you done pregnitude yet? The fertility nurse at my dr. actually recommended it (they don’t sell it so I don’t think they get anything out of recommending it) .

@sara79:  My doctor also recommended a Prenatal (with folic acid or folate) in conjunction with Pregnitude. So no worries on too much folic acid.

I just went off the pill a bit less than 3 months ago but didn’t have this problem, but I took some natural supplements which I think helped my hormones balance quickly – Vitex (already on it I saw), Milk Thistle to clean the pill out of the liver, and Maca powder (I just drink a spoonful mixed into a smoothie each day) which also helps balance hormones. Maybe try these? Because you were on it for so long, it may just be taking your body longer than 3 months to adjust.

I stopped the pill right after the new year. I have been on birth control since I was 17, and I am 29 now. Prior to BC, I was always exactly 28 days. When I was 23ish and again when I was 26ish I briefly stopped the pill. I IMMEDIATELY returned to a 28 day cycle. This time, I have yet to have a period. I dont think it will take long to return to normal, but it certainly is different than before. I dont know if I am correct, but I am attributing it somewhat to age. I didnt think I needed to be off BC very long before TTC, but I am glad I followed my drs advice and stopped earlier.

What you are experiencing sounds quite long though. I would go back to the dr to verify that it is totally normal.
