First dress… I said “i think i like lace” and the consultant brought me this…

the ALMOST-the-one dress… different shop after i decided the consultants at the first shop were a bit… snooty and size-ist.

THE DRESS… after i thought i had settled on the other one, everyone kept saying “but you are a disney princess! where is your disney gown” and i told everyone that they were above our dress budgets. But Fiance agreed with everyone else and took me to the only shop near us that carried the Disney dresses…

First Dress I Evere Tried On: traditional, but still fun and ‘modern’ its davids bridal SWG9902

Runner Up: First Dress I Bought, more ‘modern’ than ‘traditional’… Major Dress Regret 🙁 but very beautiful.. its Sottero and midgley’s Genna Louise

And the FINAL dress ever!: the ever so popular and ‘traditional’ Mori Lee 4524 I just stumbled up on Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping Monday and had to try it on! I LOVE it 🙂 definately “the one”… ordered it the same day!

The bridal salon wouldn’t let me take photos, but here were my picks:

Dress #1 was Watters Inez.  Pretty dress, but it was too bulky with all the layers.

Runner up dress was Wtoo Carmen.  I thought I needed a destination gown, but I looked too much like a roman goddess.  Didn’t fit theme i was going for.  Would have been perfect if I was getting married at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas!

Final dress and winner – Wtoo Vesper.  Still had the layers but wasn’t overdone.  Simple and chic!  I added a sash that will be on the side, not in the middle. Still needs to be fitted too!

@nw6454: Oooh perfect choice! I love this dress on you!

I’ll play!

First dress ever. Really liked how light it was, and all the ruffles as I love ruffles. But, my mom and I felt it was a bit “country.”

Runner up: White by Vera Wang. The one a lot of people say looks like tissue paper. I couldn’t keep lying to myself the material didn’t feel like quality, and the raw edges were already fraying, and they had already had brides bring them back when their dresses came in b/c it came frayed. But, I loved it all the same!

I really wanted a vintage 1950’s style dress like a Melissa Sweet but I’m fairly short and I’m shortwaisted as well so they just didn’t work out. The first dress was a Mori Lee I believe.

Then I tried every dress at Dolly Couture and I really REALLY wanted to support her but I’m 40 and looked like I was going to a costume party 🙁

Finally, I found a dress that had a vintage feel that fit my tiny budget and I think was age appropriate. It’s by Terani and was a sample dress. Ashley Greene wore the same style for a photo shoot, otherwise I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

Me on my big day:

First at David’s Bridal. So not me, but my mom insisted I try a halter.

The runner up from Alfred Angelo I still think about this dress sometimes…

THE ONE!

The first dress I tried on was Enzoani Dakota. Now I spotted Dakota and Diana at the same time and the sales consultant happened to bring me Dakota first.

I loved Dakota but I felt a little too restricted. Then I put on Diana

Love!

The runner up was Casablanca – which I still love but I felt more like my vision of myself as a bride in Diana.

i love this thread!

it’s fascinating to watch the progression from ‘What you thought you wanted’ to ‘omg YES’ and seeing how the style gets closer with each dress.
