I really think the dress matching the location is personal preference. Both my sister and I chose our dresses before we chose the venue. It’s just how it worked out. I think the big thing is you probably don’t want a dress with a huge train if you’re having a sandy beach wedding. But, that would just be my personal feeling of a “dress that doesn’t match the venue”. I’m sure others would disagree. I say get a dress you love regardless of the venue. Our original plan was to have the ceremony on the patio, but the weather did not cooperate so we ended up having it indoors.

We have a rustic/vintage theme. Our ceremony will be out on the wedding green (these pictures were taken in November, so it’ll be a lot prettier next month). The reception is in the barn. I think my dress matches perfectly.
