ancientculturesdramaqueen :  That looks beautiful on your hand! Actually our hands are somewhat similar, haha! And I even have a shot wearing a grey shirt on the bed, too. xD

Our rings are also similar, mine is a 0.47 F Tiffany, purchased second-hand. I ALMOST got a 0.42 G Tiffany instead (really! I like the number 42 thanks to hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy), and then we would’ve really been twins. As for your question, I think thinner setting combined with under half carat stone makes it dainty.

ancientculturesdramaqueen :  Haha exactly, 0.42 is the perfect ct size! Unless one can spring for 4.20, I guess… hahaha. Which pendant do you have? My daily pendant is also from Tiffany (the super tiny 0.08ct dbty). And wow, what a move! Are you moving there temporarily, or planning to settle there? Do you speak French? How exciting!

ancientculturesdramaqueen :  personally I’d define dainty as a thin band and a smaller carat weight…..like 0.1ct or under, because i don’t really consider my ring to be “dainty”, though I do participate in dainty ring threads (obviously, cause here I am, lol). Mine, like SingingAlto :  is 0.2ctw, and it’s an everlon knot, so somewhere between a cluster and a halo imo. I love it so much ๐Ÿ˜

Smaller size doesn’t necesarily mean dainty. I’ve got a cluster with 10 stones, under 1/2 carat equivalent for the largest and under a carat equivalent for them all. But it’s not, by any definition of the word, dainty!

Mine is a 0.33ct heirloom diamond on a 2mm band. I probably would have gotten even a narrower band but I’m a physiotherapist so I wanted to make sure it stood up over time. Ring size 5. tend to think “dainty” is a combo of smaller stone and thin band.

I just bought a .34 ct GIA heart diamond J, SI1 and I cannot wait to have it set.  I can’t decide between a Rose gold prong setting or a bezel set.

I honestly love the dainty rings and think they are so classic and beautiful.  It’s why I bought this stone.
