I had purchased this gown first for a casual wedding, the JCrew Sophia silk chiffon, but it needed MUCH altering (too long and boob area too big). Got in on eBay. I have to resell it now, or get it altered and use it for a possible anniversary party?
Then I decided to go a little nicer with a Casablanca (I own like 4 of those Sophia dresses already in different colors, time to go for something different!). I got this gown for 1/2 price at a sample sale that was intended for my Jackson Hole wedding. I will wear it for our intimate wedding. Maybe a flower hairpiece, but no veil. It doesn’t need any alterations! I do need to get a poofy slip to get it off the floor. I bought a different sash for this dress as well. I love it. I try it on all the time when Fiance leaves the house.
We haven’t picked out FI’s suit yet, but something dark grey like this one so he can use it for other events.

We did both an elopement (civil ceremony) and an intimate wedding (well at least pretty small). Our civil ceremony had just 6 people in attendance and DH and I wore these outfits (his was complete with Tweety Bird tie that I loved):
For our small/intimate wedding later in the year, we had I think 36 people including us and our pastor and we wore this:

I’m pretty sure I’m going with this one for our elopement (without the bow):
Some people have told me they don’t like it or it doesn’t fit our location, but I love it.

Mine is not typical but we’re doing it in Paris so I’m justifying the drama!!
With this sash instead
Going on Sunday to look for FI’s suit
@Over the Moon: I think your dress will be just fine! Who cares if it “fits” the location! You can wear what you want!

@Over the Moon: I think that’s perfect for your Icelandic wedding!
arielle: Perfect for Paris!

@sienna76: Aw thanks! I love your second dress, too–I think it’ll be perfect for the adventure you’re planning. Super romantic. The Sophia is lovely, but it’s become so ubiquitous that it doesn’t seem… special, or something. What kind of sash will you wear?

@sienna76: I want that J. Crew. dress so bad.
I have a dress.

@aliavenue: I’m selling the Sophia gown! Size 6, and would fit a size 8. Does NOT fit like the Sophia dresses that I already own at all. Maybe because it’s a gown?
Here’s the sash I bought for the lace Casablanca gown, still waiting for it to arrive to see if it goes with my dress. Might be too much white, I don’t know.

@ladeeeda: Ann Taylor! I looked at that gown online. They had 50% all gowns shortly before Christmas 2011. Do you love it? They have some lovely gowns.

@sienna76: Yes I do love it! It fits perfectly, so no alterations are needed! I missed the 50% off sale, but they had a 30% off sale in Feb., so I took advantage of that.
