- Wedding: September 2012
I never left left a recap but these are my fav pro pics! I would say relax and enjoy the day as much as you can because the joy will show through naturally!
I hired a documentary style Photojournalist, and he is the master of lighting, my portraits were amazing! He also captured the feel of wedding, and the reception, I didn’t post those pics because I wasn’t comfortable plastering my guests all over the internet! It rained on my wedding day, so my photographer has to improvise a bit, but I love what we got, it wasn’t like anything I’d seen on Pinterest. I gave him total creative license (which I reccomend!) so he could do whatever he thought was going to be great 🙂
Also, because I’m a MUA; I really wanted pictures while I was getting my make up done. something I find a lot of people aren’t doing a lot of (and my wedding planner tried to talk me out of!) so I made sure to ask him to be there for that… I reccomend it also, I really loved these shots, I included one at the end!
other shots from the evening:

here’s a few of my fav.
that’s my son. not my dh.
this was actually taken by my dh.
Wow I love these photos!!! Definately inspiring and helpful, as I am trying to figure out what kind of pictures I want my photographer to take 🙂
i had to laugh about your caption of this being your son. I read it for the following pic and I was like: wow, I certainly wouldn’t post like THIS with my son. But then I scrolled up again lol.
Ooh, posting to come back from my computer top contribute!
@FutureDrAtkins: I HIGHLY recommend practicing your smile with a friend before your wedding. I ended up doing this the morning-of with a guest. One of my friends’ gift to me was doing my wedding makeup and her +1 was a producer/director for a small movie company they both work with. She does a lot of work with models and things, and she asked me off-hand what my favorite smile of mine was, because she was taking a few candid shots before the photographers arrived, my blank stare sprung her into action. We practiced full, half, and 3/4 smiles, teeth v. no teeth, head tilts in various sides & angles, etc. until finally we found the most flattering one (a 3/4 smile with teeth, tilted slightly) It made all the difference! Even our photographer commented that I looked so much more relaxed and natural than I had for the engegement photos.
There’s not really much I would have done differently, although honestly, I wish I had kept my dangly earrings, I ended up changing to studs at the last minute, so there are a few shots from getting ready where I had them, like the mirror one (which is my favorite me-only photo) but if that’s my one and only complaint about my wedding, I think I did fine. 🙂
These are some of my fav shots:
And possibly my most favorite picture of the day, my newphew:
