Well Bees, my dress came today, and I’m not in love. I don’t think it looks right… Thoughts? I want to love it, but so far don’t. I expected any issue to be quality, not how it looked on me.

ThePearlsBee:  The pictures aren’t very clear, but it looks lovely! Very soft and flowey.nI think you want volume in the skirt which a crinolin will fix.  Is it loose at the waist also?

Christina1015:  Soft and flowy was what made me fall in love with it oringally. It looks like it hangs wrong with the front view. Do you think the petticoat will make it sit properly? Here is the inspiration picture. It looks FAR different on me. Which to a degree I expected. I also adjusted the top, so it’s different than the picture.

ThePearlsBee:  I wonder if maybe it looks different because it’s a stiffer fabric?

I was just getting a dress altered (not wedding dress) at a tailor yesterday. She noticed things wrong with the dress that I didn’t notice at all.

So I suggest bringing it to a tailor and seeing what she says about it.

ThePearlsBee:  I do think it looks very pretty though! I wouldn’t have thought it was a replica if I saw it.

ThePearlsBee:  I see, you want it to have less body, so a crinolin wouldn’t  work, it would have the opposite effect of what you want. Maybe your seamstress can take some body out of the underskirt.

I think it is lovely on you either way!

caligirl0011:  I was thinking the fabric might have something to do with it. It doesn’t form around my body as well as the inspiration picture, which again though, I find out figured. I will be taking it to a seamstress for sure. I want the back changed. Illusion back with bright white. I am pale, but not that pale, lol.

Christina1015:  I weighed my options with taking some of the crinoline out. I put the dress back on and twirled around repeatedly. I finally decided to order a petticoat to start with and see what happens. It’s got so much volume in the front than I thought it would, but none in the back. It just lays there. So, even though I didn’t want a big puffy dress, I’m gonna go for that and see what happes. Failing that, I will get some removed and hope for the best.

I am starting to like the dress. I moved around a bit in it, and once positioned right in the back, it looks far better. I think a petticoat will resolve that issue anyway… Getting a replica made is a horribly stressful experience.

ThePearlsBee: I just received my mid-production photos and I too am undewhelmed by my dress, so I totally relate! But you do look spextacular in this gown!

I see what you’re saying about the front not hanging quite correctly. I’m not sure what’s causing that – is it the actual hem, or is it the underskirt? But I think a seemstress could fix it.

The good news is it looks like the drop waist fits you perfectly!

Hi all!!! So my dress came out insanely gorgeous. I went with THE SHOP. I worked with Kimmie as a consultant who was very helpful through the process. I paid a little under $1000 for the replica dress. It was based on a 10,000 dress that I fell in love with. The owner of the shop reached out to me when I expressed some concerns since there was a zipper installed instead of the clasps I wanteD. He explained thinfs get really crazy in wedding season but they are moving customer service to in house so they can be more efficient. He sent me extra material as an apology which was very nice customer service. I think through the boards they noticed I was upset with the headig as well and by the time it came to me it was all fixed. The process started in January I got my dress in the mail about 4 weeks before the wedding. I rushed it to come two months before but it came one month before. When I got it I took it to my seamstress because the torso came out too long and the skirt was way too low to walk in. My seamstress wouldn’t touch it so thank god she knew a dress maker who lifted the entire skirt for me. She did it quickly too I was nervous it would be a lost gamble!! But she lifted it to where I wanted it originally. After it was all said and done I spent $900 more for the big alteration and the bustle And a belt. The zipper on the dress made it sag down. So she installed a big belt inside that helped it stay up. It was so heavy!!! But all said and done it was so goegeous the lace was insanely beautiful the beadig was amazing everyone was gushing over it all day. I changed into a different dress for dancing the tango!! Such a beautiful day 😀😀😀😀😀😍😍😍😍 good luck with your dresses bees!

skylar84:  it’s sad when somehow it doesn’t live up to the expectations. At least with mid-production they can fix what you don’t love.

And it was the under part of the dress. I think being wrapped up so tiny was causing it not to sit right. And thank you. I am pretty happy with the drop waist on it. I am only 5 feet, so I wasn’t sure how I would feel in it.

So after sleeping on it, I have decided I definitely love the dress. I will have a few alterations done such as the loose back and it needs to be taken in a bit. Also my illusion back that almost made me cry. Nude colored would be super fantastic. Lol. However for a few hundred dollars, compared to the close to 10,000 it costs, I won’t complain too much.
