Hello, if there are any kind bees that would like to message me the names of the shops in these threads, I would greatly appreciate it!

I also would be happy to hear any individual experiences from any bees, on whether one shop is highly recommended or otherwise. I’m hoping the collective knowledge of this community can help me make an educated decision on how to move forward with getting a dress made vs trying to buy from traditional bridal shoppes 🙂

hi ladies! looks like this thread hasn’t gotten action in a while but i’ll give it a shot. for those with experience with the shops discussed in this thread, which would you recommend for a dress like these with such intricate floral/lace work? i’ve gone through every page and it looks like “the shop” is the best option but i wanted to ask anyway..

not looking to have the exact replica of these but i just love intricate floral work and these were some spot on examples

thanks bees!!

So I’ve read through a lot of the replica threads, starting around part 9. Based on what I’ve seen, The Shop should be able to replicate that pretty close but be aware that they charge for not just the dress, but also there’s a 30% up charge for designer fabric and then an additional 30% charge if you want the “expert craftsmanship”. Plus they can take a few months or longer to complete a dress

if you want your dress faster and at a lower cost and still pretty good replica, the Shop 2.0 is known for many very nice dresses  karinay :

I know this board is basically dead, but I can’t be the only person looking to find a way to save money on my dress but still look amazing on my wedding day. I’ve gone through probably over 5000+ posts from users in the last 8 or 9 threads of those Replica journey, so I’m going to bump this and keep it going.

I placed my order with the Lace Shop about two or three weeks ago, after being in communication with Mary for about two weeks before then, discussing my dress and also a matching veil.

Mary was very quick with communication. I would write to her and usually by the next morning I would have a reply (understandable since she is in a China). She is very clear in her communication and since we are communicating via Etsy, there is a “trail” of our conversation so I can always go back and see what has been discussed and confirmed between us (in case I need to reference later, should anything go wrong)

I paid in full for both the dress and veil via PayPal, and sent and image of the color of the underlay I am wanting (very very pale grey under ivory lace), and now Mary is waiting on me to send her my measurements.

I decided to go order my wedding shoes so I can get my measurements taken with the thought in mind of those being what I wear on my wedding day. They are 4.5” blue heels (they just arrived today) so all I need to do is find a local seamstress or tailor to take the measurements and then Mary will go ahead and order the fabric, lace, etc., and get started on production.

I will share updates about my journey for a custom/replica dress here as they happen! (And maybe I will write a whole new thread at the end for a summary for anyone who doesn’t read here)

mnk88 :  Thanks for reviving the thread!

I also just ordered a dress a few days ago from Anty (Shop 2.0). Initially, I got a more expensive quote from The Shop and was going to make an order with them. In the end I decided to go with Anty because she can deliver in a few weeks rather than a few months which seems standard for The Shop. I also like that she is able to incorporate changes without extra charges, whereas The Shop seems to have a lot of hidden/unexpected charges. So far Anty has been quite good with communication, and I hope she does a great job!

Oh and if anyone would like the names/links to the shops, feel free to PM me.

ladyinpink123 :  Did you receive your dress? Could you give an update on how it is in person? Thanks!

myvintagevanity :  no problem! I think if a few of us are going the replica or custom dress route, it’s important to provide our experiences and pictures as we go along so others who are looking for a dress can know it’s an option! 😊

I received the wedding shoes from an Etsy shop that I’ve been in communication with, but they had some obvious signs of demarcation which for me is unacceptable for a brand new shoe. I understand they are handmade but some of these marks come across as kind of sloppy (a little more care in making them and they could have been avoided) so I contacted them about an exchange or return. Until I get the shoes I want to wear for my wedding, getting my measurements taken for The Lace Shop will have to wait a little longer—I’m just glad that I have a lot of time before wedding day happens!

has anybody gotten custom embroidery/applique done for their gowns?

i have something drawn up i’d like to use instead of the premade options the replica shops offer but i can’t find anywhere to have it made. just places that make patches and logos and such..

myvintagevanity :  The dress arrived and the quality is absolutely amazing. My mother was very pleased with the quality for the price we paid. We were blown away by the many layers of fabric used to make the ballgown effect for my wedding dress – it was a lot of layers. If we got this kind of dress at the wedding stores, it would have started at double the price. I think I gained some weight over the last few months, so I will have to get the off-shoulder portion to be altered closer to the wedding date. But that’s on my end since I requested the removable off-shoulder part to be body hugging and with a button closure – which I learned from this experience is not a good idea. For future brides, I recommend lace-up closure especially if you expect to lose or gain some weight before the wedding. It’s more on the safe side and more adjustable which means you might not need to alter that part. But luckily they made sure to add some extra fabric to the side (which I have to get the seamstress to open up the seams) so I can make the off-shoulder backing to fit.

ladyinpink123 :  Hi! Can we see some pics please? It looks so perfect on the shop’s mannequin! I love it. That’s such a Brazilian style of classic meets modern meets princess!

ladyinpink123 :  That’s so good to hear! So glad it’s gorgeous in person too – now I’m really excited to get my dress! Could you please share pictures?

My dress is supposed to be figure-hugging and has buttons all the way down the back, so I hope it fits right as I really don’t like lace-up backs! Anty reassured me that she left a generous seam allowance so I am relieved about that.
