for the sake of trying to keep these threads alive because they’ve helped me quite a bit in deciding on where to have my gown made i’d like to comment on my experience so far… i ended up emailing both linda’s and the shop and so far have had great experiences in communication with both. i just got my final quote from the shop and am waiting on my quote from linda’s. the shop has been especially superb with communication and addressing every one of my questions in detail which helps ease the stress of getting a gown made overseas.

i’ve also started an order with anomalie just to be safe. that way if something goes wrong i’ll have a backup!

Update on my dress with Anty from Shop 2.0.

I asked for mid-production pictures about a week ago, and Anty said she’d send them when they began making the lace appliques. I finally got a couple of pictures today, showing the front and back of the upper part of the dress since the rest of the dress doesn’t have any lace, apart from the train. I was OK with what I saw, but I can tell that it’s going to be quite different from my inspiration dress. For the most part, I don’t mind, but there was a part of the design that they didn’t do quite the way I wanted. I pointed this out and Anty said she’d ask the worker to check and fix it.

I asked her to please send me more pictures as the dress progresses. The response was: “After confirm this appliqués. Rest work will sew directly. Can’t be more progresses pictures.  When finish all. Will show u”. I asked whether she’d send me pictures of the lace appliques on the train at least, and the reply was “That is not necessary dear”. So basically the next update I expect is once the dress is completed.

Based on this, I have this advice for anyone who plans to go with Shop 2.0:

1. Don’t expect mid-production/progress pictures the way The Shop does. It seems that they only send pictures for things like lace appliques. I’m sure if I didn’t specifically ask for them, I wouldn’t have gotten any pictures at all.

2. Don’t expect a close replica unless you are buying a design they already have on their shop website. I went the custom route and sent pictures of a dress I liked. From what I saw from the pictures so far, only the neckline is similar to my inspiration dress, and it’s still nowhere near exact. Luckily, I don’t want a replica, just the same general silhouette and design, which is why I’m very chill about this. If I did want an close replica, I would be quite upset. Consider any inspiration dress pictures you send a “suggestion”, not a “blue print”.

3. If you like control and are particular about things, Shop 2.0 is not for you. You will have next to no control, if any at all.

4. If you want a dress made quickly, at an extremely affordable price (mine is less than 300 USD), with good quality (based on others’ experiences, since I’m yet to receive my dress), and aren’t too particular about the details, Shop 2.0 might be for you.

I’ll keep you all posted about how the dress turns out.

abt2927 :  How is your dress with The Shop going? Did you receive it already?

karinay :  Thanks for the update and for keeping the thread going! Did you get the quote from Linda’s? Also, I’m curious, is there any reason why you’re not getting your dress from Anomalie instead of the overseas replica vendors? Since you’ve already started the order, and are possibly already spending money on the Anomalie dress, why not just go with them altogether?

myvintagevanity :  no word from linda’s yet.

i’m using anomalie mostly as a safety net. if i like the shop’s dress then i can return anomalie’s since they offer a 100% money back guarantee with no questions asked. if i don’t like it then i’ll have a backup from anomalie and can return the shop’s for a 50% refund. and if all goes to hell and i don’t like either i’d return them both and would just go to bhldn as a last resort since the dresses are already made. basically i just like safety nets sealed

do any of y’all recognize these backdrops as any known shops?

I found them on alibaba and they look familiar

Hello Bees! I’d be really grateful if someone could PM the details of the sellers, especially The Shop. The pictures and reviews/experience posts here have been really helpful!

SO glad to see people keeping these threads going.

I’ve been very busy the last month with traveling and unable to get into a seamstress for my measurements. Thankfully, Mary from The Lace Shop has a comprehensive guide on what measurements she needs, so I had my Fi take the measurements last night and sent them off to her along with pictures of me from front and side (as she requests—I wore bike shorts and sports bra so she could get an understanding of my figure).

So hopefully she will be able to get started with my dress and I will be able to come back with some of my own updates again 😊

karinay :  From the shops you posted, I can’t tell if the backgrounds really resemble a lot of the shops already discussed here — they may be new. The second photo has that classic backdrop that is *similar* to the Shop but not the same bc the Shop has those column backgrounds if I remember correctly

as for adding new shops, I think many of the original creators of these threads have moved on, so really if there is a good shop there is no reason to not give it a nickname and add it to the list of shops we already know of.

I’ve also been thinking on whether we should start Thread 19 (with all the important info from Post #1) and have this one closed. What does everyone else think?

i’ve got an anomalie update as well, i’m not having them create a replica dress otherwise i wouldn’t post them by name.
they’re having an issue with my requested layers of tulle fabrics in the skirt. i’m forgoeing a lining fabric and just doing layers of tulle to add fullness and to keep it airy since my wedding will be in the desert. but because they haven’t done it before, they don’t want to do it with my dress  -___-
they say they don’t know how it’ll turn out so they’re just saying no which i think is dumb considering they’re supposed to be a fully custom shop. i’ve got a call with them tomorrow to see what they’re able to do and the rest i’ll just have to get fabric from joann’s and add it in on my own. if all goes well it should be going into production this or next week.

and i just put in my veil order and fabric sample order with the shop, still all looking good with them. amazing customer service!!

well i have a list of shops from aliexpress and alibaba that *look* reputable and good. i haven’t purchased from them so i couldn’t say for sure but their photos are pretty consistent and they’ve got good reviews, mot gowns look to be under $300. if anybody is interested i can send them my list. i recognize some of their dresses as replicas so i don’t want to post the links but in general they have beautiful gowns.

mnk88 :  starting a new thread sounds good to me! just post the link here  ( :
