misselsa: thanks! It’s 108″ Wide. Yeah it definitely looks more rounded and less viney/tree-ish to me. However, I think they have some beading to do once I approve the lace placement so that may help it have that look.

Nompish: Get used to it!!!! The SERVICE is the more awful I have ever seen…. I wouldn’t go with “the shop” there are so many other shops that have an extraordinary good service! Now I’ve got a consultant I can even chat with her on whatsapp and she replies in seconds!!!!!!!!

My consultant let me know that I should be getting my mid-pros by next week so I’ll be anxiously waiting for that email like a hawk to show ya 🙂

Hi there Bees! I’ve spent today churning through these threads and now here I am with all my asks…

Starting with the obvious: someone be a love and PM me links for THE (ALL CAPS) SHOP, The Supposedly USA-Based But Possibly Making In Vietnam Shop, and gosh, any other Shops of note in this replica/custom mash-up gown game.

Secondly, I’m a bit baffled by Trello. Does it have WB boards on there too, or just various SHOP boards for quotes and how can I find/ join them? Sorry for being so backward. I’m only 33 but my utter lack of comprehension at these new fangled sharing media stuffs makes me feel like an ancient relic.

And finally, getting into the nitty gritty of my dress situation, what are folks’ experiences with non-trad colours and non-trad fabric commissions from The Various Shops? Can you still get samples of fabrics they don’t commonly get asked for? And has anyone ever ordered a bridal jumpsuit or romper from them? I know by this point I’m making myself sound like wannabe clown-bride! Not so, I promise. Specifically I am looking at silk & velvet in deep, rich, autumnal type shades like mustard, ochre, copper, olive, etc. Possibly a dress but more ideally a flowing/drapey dress-like, 1930s silhouette jumpsuit. Absolutely no lace or beading, so in theory simple.. but I haven’t seen any of the replica places do something like this that’s less weddingy more red-carpety so I’m a touch nervous about starting the process.

Hi Bees,
I have some dress photos! Just got a message from the Chicago Shop with mid pro pictures of the back of my dress. They want me to take a look at the back before they start beading. I would love some critical comments on this please, I’m not great at spotting things so any suggestions will be received with thanks
My impressions:
1. I feel the colour of the dress is lighter than the shade of ivory I chose – what do you think, am I imagining this? I chose “light ivory” and feel like they used “white”…
2. I HATE the fact that the dress is so creased but trying to see past that as beading is yet to be done. I’m borderline obsessive about creases so this worries me. How can this be …errm, fixed?
3. The boning is pretty visible, don’t you ladies think?4 .The pleat on the back is rather thick and a far cry from the smooth edges of the inspiration dress
5. There’s this stark contrast between the skirt and the tulle overlay…
Apart from these the craftsmanship is pretty good. Is there anything else you can see, Bees? Do you have suggestions for how I can direct them to address some of the things I’ve identified myself? I’ve included pictures of the inspiration and swatches for comparison.
