Keep in mind depending on the size/weight of your invitation the postage requirement may not be 1 or 2 standard stamps, so you could end up paying more by doing that instead of figuring out the postage requirement before you buy stamps.

I’m using forever stamps and I think they’re just fine. I think it’s tacky to be overly judgmental about every aspect of the invitations! Man if one of our guests looked at the envelope and thought “Wow, how cheap, they went for Forever stamps instead of those lovely wedding band ones” I probably wouldn’t want them to come.

The USPS just released a Wedding Roses Forever stamp last week.  It’s priced at $0.44.  If you’re worried about prices going up and you’re sure you won’t be using square envelopes, these are a great purchase.

@FunfettiCupcakes: Yes they just came out and they’re really pretty.  I’m not too concerned with the price of stamps going up in the next few weeks for me, but I’m getting these anyway.

Going to put another post up to inform everyone else.

Starting this year, all new first-class stamps will be forever stamps.

Including these beauties that a few bees already mentioned. (Which I didn’t get to use because they are coming out to late, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE!)

I am using the Ronald Reagan forever stamps.  Knowing our guest list, most of them will more than likely keep the envelopes just because of the stamps.

I tried to buy the wedding roses but I couldn’t find a post office that had them. I had to go with the wedding bands…..but I don’t think anyone notices the stamps except for the person sending it.

Even using the “forever” stamps, you’re likely to spend more on postage b/c the current normal invite price is 61 or 64 cents (which is likely what you’ll need unless you fit your invite in a normal letter envelope and its not bigger/heavier than normal mail)… even if it DOES go up, it won’t go up but a couple cents. If you go with the forever stamp you’ll ultimately be spending ~ 20 cents more than you’d need to.

I would just wait. And go with the stamp the P.O. has for invites… I got the 61 cent Wedding Cake for ours and even though it wasn’t the “custom” one I wanted it still looked great and it was ~ 10 cents less than getting the custom ones.

sidenote: postage just went up at the beginning of this year so it may not go up again before your wedding… (they were denied in the raising normal postage prices)
