I’m really stressed!   My unity candle is in the mail from the US (been waiting 6 weeks for them to make it and now the transit time), my deposit to the photographer is in the mail, the bracelet I ordered from etsy had to be fixed and is back with her and not all of my RSVPs have made it back.  Ahhh!!   My wedding is in 39 days!

I can’t even imagine what you are going through! I am still 5 months out from our wedding and sending anything in the mail makes me nervous! πŸ™

Yep. I’m pretty stressed about it and I haven’t heard/seen an update about any talks or negotiations since yesterday. I have an Etsy shop and I really need to be able to ship my sales! Couriers are just too expensive for plain old letter mail πŸ™

hey CANADIAN date twin!

I mailed our invites Friday too -so at least well be in a panic together! Im hoping that 90% of invites will make it to where they are supposed to before the strike -for those that dont I will be doing follow up calls. Ive emailed several family members telling them Ive sent them and asking them to touch base with others given the strike situation. The few people who arent close family or friends will probably get phone calls in 2 weeks if the strike doesnt come to an end. I don`t know what ettiquett says, but I say with Summer holidays coming up I want people to know sooner rather than later -so  a phone call it will be.

I`m lucky enough that all the things I was waiting for have arrived & I am holding off on ordering anything else until the strike is over.

Its frustrating, but we`ll make it work.

Take a breath people. They will likely be legislated back to work in a short period of time.

This strike or potential strike has been advertised for months. Make alternate arrangements.

@bakerella:

rather than selling the pdf’s of your work. can you email them to someone close to where your customer is, and have them do the delivery, so you don’t have to give the work itself to the customer? There must be people here on the bee, and other crafting websites who would help.

WOOOO

I got two phone calls from family saying GOT IT.

I’m sure some won’t make it quite in time, but I actually liked hearing from people!

I’m nervous but not freaking yet…..we are holding off on our invites until this mess is all sorted out.

But I have a few things from etsy in the mail and I really really want them in my hands!! I live in NB so it always takes longer for things to get to us anyway…..now it’s probably going to take a llloooottttt longer.

I appreciate the fact that they’re doing staged strikes in various locations rather than nationwide all at once. It’s more respectful of small businesses, and people relying on the mail to get bills, etc. I know my grandfather doesn’t know how to use the internet so telling him he’d need to log in to get his payment amounts and due dates would be ridiculous for him. I think it’s the best of a worst case scenario right now.

I’m glad they are doing the isolated strikes and my mail was still in my box on Friday.

@julies1949:  Not sure why the snark, but I only heard of the possible strike for the past 2-3 weeks.   Not when I mailed my invites at the end of April or ordered my items from etsy.   I think that many of the bees had valid concerns for it and most of us don’t have the budget to use FedEx, etc for everything.
