For those of us who already have babies, how was your weight-loss after baby?
And for those of you who breastfed, did your weight come back after you stopped breastfeeding?
I am actually smaller now than I was pre-baby. I’m losing weight like crazy (my little one is 8 months old now). I’ve been eating like a pig to maintain my weight until my wedding day, because I’ve already had my dress altered twice because I keep getting smaller!
I gotta say though, I’m really thankful that I am breastfeeding for so many reasons! Not only for the health benefits for bebe and the bonding, but because it’s helped me lose lots of weight! I am concerned that the weight lost will come back after I’m done breastfeeding though…does that typically happen?
Please share your postpartum weight loss successes or woes!

I gained 35 pounds with my baby. It took me about 5 months to lose it all, and I have lost an additional 5 pounds but it certainly was not without effort. I have been attempting to seriously cut down on all grains and refined sugar. It’s hella hard and every ounce feels like a battle (I can’t blame it on the baby though, it’s just my weakness for carbs). My ultimate goal is a BMI of 18.5, and I need to lose another 10 pounds to make it happen. I wish the weight would just fall off.
I did not breastfeed. My milk never came in.

Wow… I feel really lucky then girls! I will admit the appetite I had when she was first born was monstorous. I wanted to eat all day long..
But since then my appetite is gone, and I think that is the big thing that has made me lose so much…I’m burining extra calories breastfeeding, but eating less than I did pre-pregnancy.
I gained about 32lbs during pregnancy (started at 112lbs, went to 144ish, now down to 109.5).
Honestly, I am a lazy bum, so if I wasn’t breastfeeding, I don’t think I ever would have lost the baby weight

@urchin: I had a friend with a story similar to you- she is significantly smaller after having a baby like much less than her pre-preg weight. She kept it off after breast feeding as well. I think she takes good care of herself and running around with a toddler and all the heavy lifting helps too.

@Romantigua: hah…i’m just lazy & lucky! I do eat pretty decently now (healthy foods) but exercising is not something I have time for…unless you count entertaining an 8 month old as exercising! haha
@Eva Peron: that’s reassuring! I really hope that after I am done breastfeeding that I can maintain my new weight or just be back to my pre-preg weight. I’m glad my crazy appetite is gone…hopefully it stays away!

I am 30lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight 2 weeks after delivery. It’s kind of crazy, how fast I have lost it. I am breast feeding.

I gained almost 60 pounds and have lost all but 10 (15 for my wedding/super skinny weight), I’m 6 months postpartum as of next weekend. I’m breastfeeding and think that I’m holding on to the extra weight because of it. I have a low supply and have been struggling with that and any change I make in calories or amping up my exercise really affects my production, unfortunately. I’m sure after we wean I’ll be able to lose it in a snap.
And sadly my ring size and shoe size changed and I don’t think 10lbs will make any difference with that.
