I would personally choose a different venue. When I was deciding on a venue, it seemed SO important, but now a few months later, it really doesn’t matter so much to me.

@JessicaAnn12:  I am on the other side, we picked our date based on when we could get our venue.

So, I would say, adjust your date for the venue. August is not too soon IMO considering that normally invites go out two months in advance. Just spread the word to your Out of Town guests of your date as soon as you book so they can make travel arrangements and save vacation days. That being said, I think March would be fine as well and give you a year from now to provide plenty of notice. If you lvoe the venue, change your date.

I think August is far enough for people to make plans around perfectly. I would go with that if I desperataly NEEDED that venue, and have the alternate coordinator. Otherwise I’d pick another venue for oct-nov. I would never wait 1+ years just because I liked a venue

If there isn’t any type of rush for some reason, I would personally just wait for my dream venue. You might regret it otherwise. I regret my venue 🙁

@miaowcat:  Trying to understand- you can’t be garanteed an august date through your first choice venue? If not, I’d look elsewhere. You can’t plan around that. Not sure where you are from, but there has to be another beautiful place in your area, if not a town over maybe ?

If you really love the venue I’d wait until spring 2013.    If you choose your second place venue will you regret it later?

I’d either take it for August or take option B. Personally, I feel that you should look more at when do you want your anniversary to be?

I would postpone and have the better venue. Its more expensive, but with a longer engagement you have more time to save up. It sounds like a lot less work with decorating ect, and I would not want to have to deal with changing the decor too much.

@miaowcat:  It’s probably more possible that I misunderstood than you being unclear, sorry 🙂

I guess it comes down to getting married earlier vs. having the venue you love. So it all depends on what is important to you. If it were me & this venue is that great (not to mention having to do a whole lot less workwise), if you can afford it, wait & have it your way! If you want to get married sooner & don’t care about sacrificing venue options, do that. Either way, good luck & hope to hear back on what you choose.

ETA: Do you have pics or links for both venues? I’d love to see…
