I went through this same crisis. I very nearly picked a dress I didn’t like, because of what the “fashion rules” told me to do. I was upset when I realized how much I’d internalized those messages, and how it almost cost me a dress I truly loved. So, I sympathize!

I like the Vera a lot – although I think you also look great on the Marisa. I think you can do a ballgown if your dress has a dropped waistline.

This is interesting to read, and until you mentioned the ‘rules’, I really had no idea there were such suggestions for wedding gowns. I was basing what I thought by how I see you in the dress choices you’ve made and how unhappy you’ve been about not having the right dress. Good luck with your decision.

@oyster –

“Are you implying that there is something better than Vera Wang? Excuse me, do they keep that next to the something that is better than chocolate?

“Get the dress.”

It’s a quote. Name that movie! ๐Ÿ™‚ (sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

BRIDAL WARS – the part where they made the “you dont alter vera to fit you, you alter yourself to fit vera” that movie cracked me up ๐Ÿ™‚

@spaganya: Woo-hoo! You win. The prize is, um… an imaginary Vera Wang gown! hehe  ๐Ÿ™‚  I love that silly movie.

I know other bees have said this, but you need to pick the dress that you like the best. I think the Vera is beautiful and I believe you will be beautiful in the Vera, on your wedding day! Ultimately, whatever dress you decide to wear will look beautiful! Also, a close friend of mine wore a ballgown dress at her wedding and she is quite petite and slim. It never occured to me that dress wasn’t right for her, in fact the dress was totally her. If you decide to go with a dress that other people wouldn’t pick (when you ask their opinions) that doesn’t mean you look bad, I bet most people at your wedding will think your dress it totally “you”, especially if it is fabulous and unique.

I like the Marisa.

But I think the Vera is a wonderful choice. It looks great on you and, I’m guessing (based on your love for it), that it fits your personality. I am a 3 dress bride and you need to go with what you’re going to be the most confident in… because no matter how pretty the dress, if you don’t feel amazing, you’ll have an awkward smile…. and that would be the worst case scenario!

wow… I think this isn’t about what they all look like, it’s about how you feel. (and they all look great.  They are freaking wedding gowns, and you are georgous!!) Like you said, you alredy know what the popular vote is.  I think reposting the pics is just adding more confusion.  I know which one I think looks best, but guess what?  I won’t tell you b/c it doesn’t matter- I won’t be there.  Get the one YOU want.  You know what they say…. “opinions are like _______ everyones got one, and they all stink”

haha @oyster, Bride Wars! And I loved her Vera dress!

Ok babe, here’s what I think. I don’t know why nearly everyone here DOESN’T like the Vera dress- I think it’s GORGEOUS and I think your figure looks amazing. I actually like that kind of waist on you too, it slims your hips a lot. My dress has a dropped waist as well.

I actually don’t like the Lazaro at all, it looks starchy and hard to move in. I like the Marisa second, it’s very soft and feminine.

Your wedding is the day after mine! I cannot believe you’re still on the dress hunt, aahhhh I’d be going crazy. I may be in the minority, but go with the Vera. You love it and I think you look gorgeous.

@meliss – yeah that line thing… *sigh* without it i would love it.

but like teddybearspicnic said – its YOUR dress, YOUR day, YOUR wedding. wear what makes you feel beautiful. the rest be damned. *shrugs*

but in all honesty – youre getting married in a month. pick a dress already! lol stop second guessing things and pick one!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Errrm, may I point out here that except for the Marisa (which you seem a little lukewarm about anyway) all the dresses you picked are essentially exactly the same cut (with more or less embellishments in varying places), including the two gowns you haven’t had a chance to try yet? Maybe the dropped waistline is really the problem, maybe that style will never look 100% right to you (though I think you look great in all except the Vera). Maybe you should go back to the bridal stores and have another look, try on stuff you wouldn’t consider before…1 month – 1 dress…it’s decision time!

@Meliss: Get the Vera. Your happiness in it will overshadow what anyone (including your FH) thinks. When he sees you that day, he won’t even remember this conversation. You will be so beautiful, he’ll forget completely!

Also, when they alter it correctly, no one will even SEE a line across your stomach. It’s just a seam; they had to put it there to add the full skirt & organza and so on.

I like the Marisa dress best!!! However @shanibee’s photoshoppings make me like that other dress much better.
