@meliss: I think the size of the dress you tried was bigger than your actual size. Personally I like the dress you got MUCH better. What is that you don’t like in it?

@meliss

It is ridiculous how much better the store sample looked on you. The new dress looks completely different! I mean, it is similar, but the materials seems way off. The sample dress was flowy and heavy, the new dress seems stiff and stands out from your legs, rather than falling into creases like the sample dress. Also, the sample dress seems to hit you higher, the new dress is “Dragging you down” visually. The sample dress also hits you very snugly around your hips, and the new dress looks very boxy on your hips. They don’t even look like the same dress!!!

the vera doesn’t suit your body as well as the lazaro. the lazaro looks great on you, it makes you look soft and feminine, and gives you a great figure. but the vera has such a hard look and makes you look very broad. my least favourite is the marissa.

I just looked at your pics of the sample and your dress. The sample seems to me more horizontal where it flares and your dress seems to curve where it flares. Also, it seems like they have the sample pulled tighter on you.

I like the Vera and lazaro, looove the Marisa. If you liked the Marisa I would take it somewhere else to get the alterations done, I wouldn’t trust the to alter a dress if they can’t even keep their appts straight. And I definitely like the Vera better with the sweetheart…but I think it comes down to this…you don’t seem to LOVE any of them. You said you know a ballgown is what is going to give you butterflies…this makes me wonder, have you tried other styles?  I know on Say Yes to the Dress I see girls all the time go into the shop with a certain style in mind and their heart set on that style, but then they get them to try on something else, and that’s the one. So often it is something they never thought they’d like. Maybe you should go to a shop and try one totally different styles, maybe…just maybe, something will jump out at you that you never expected 🙂

Hi meliss,

I think you look better in ball/ fuller gowns, so out of the 3 dresses, I vote for Marissa or Vera.

In the same time, notice how Salma Hayek’s dress in the link you posted is not a drop waist?…I think a dress with a natural waist would be more flattering as it would elongate your legs.

I actually love the Lazaro on you.  But, to be honest, you look gorgeous in all three.

What kind of wedding are you having?  The Marisa is pretty, but it looks sort of beachy, outdoor-ish to me.  The other two look more formal.

I don’t think you can go wrong though!

The bodice looks longer on the sample, and the skirt drapes nicer.  I wonder if the extra length in the torso is because it’s a bigger size?  The sample looks AMAZING on you.  Can you take that picture to the bridal salon and point out your issues?  Maybe after tailoring is complete you will love it again.
