My fiancee and I live in Boston but are looking for a beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding sometime in 2010. We’re targeting 80-120 guests and are looking for somewhere where most of the guests can stay for the weekend and we can do pretty much everything but the ceremony and reception ourselves. We’re hoping to cook our own rehearsal dinner and play games Friday night. Wake up Saturday for breakfast and have the ceremony and reception on site, hopefully outdoors or in a barn.
Most of the sites we can find online want to run everything through their system and while we’re happy to engage a reasonably priced caterer for Saturday night we really want to do it ourselves the rest of the time.
Does anyone have any recommendations for camps or farms or something else we haven’t thought of that might fit the bill? We’re trying to stay under $10,000 for our total budget so it’s certainly not an easy find.
Thanks in advance!

A couple random thoughts for you…. http://www.boydenfarm.com/ – my SIL got married there last summer (it’s literally 10 minutes up the road from us). They are pretty remote but it’s really pretty. They just started offering weddings and Lauri is GREAT. However, they do not have rooms for rent and there’s nothing anywhere near there (unless people wanted to stay at Smuggs’, 20 minutes away… lots of outdoorsy stuff to do there, though, could be fun!)
I would recommend someplace on a lake…. I went to my Uncle’s wedding at the Lake Morey Inn (on Lake Fairlee) and it was a blast! It was great being able to swim and waterski. It was many years ago so I cannot recall what the accomodations were nice but I think some place like that would be a blast! http://www.lakemoreyresort.com/
A campgroud of some kind might be nice too! http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/killkare.cfm – My work went here last summer for our summer party and it was a blast!! SOOO gorgeous! There is a link on that page for "weddings". It’d be pretty if you think people might be up for an adventure!
Hope that helps a little!! 🙂
