After quite a few scary months healthwise, I was recently diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It’s a chronic condition, where my heart overcompensates when I change positions. I’m learning to manage it through medicine and lifestyle changes. The biggest issue is that I developed this while TTC, and unfortunately it seems like getting off the pill is what triggered the onset of this disease.
I’m now sadly back on the pill, along with two other drugs, Metoprolol (a beta-blocker) and Celexa. While I love feeling better, I’m pretty bummed about putting the babymaking on hold indefinitely. I was curious if any of you have, or know someone, with POTS who had a successful pregnancy, and how they handled it. My doctors say it’s possible, but I’d have to get off all of my meds, which could turn pregnancy into a bedrest situation, which I’m not sure I’m up for. My husband and I are up for adopting, but right now I’m trying to figure out as much as I can about POTS and pregnancy.
