I know this topic is not new–Ive seen a ton of posts on potted herb centrepieces, but I’m having trouble finding the information I need. I’m doing potted herbs on tables in vintage tins, so they will be fairly small–what I am wondering is how close to the wedding to I have to pot them so that they don’t outgrow their container? I would love to do it now and get it out of the way (wedding is in mid-August) but I dont want them all to die on me!
Anyone with any garden knowledge that can help me out?

I’m no gardening expert, but when I transfer a plant into a new pot, which is usually bigger, it usually adapts fairly quickly. Usually within two weeks. I think it all depends on how the roots are in the plant you’ll be transfering.
Again, I’m am in no way an expert. It’s just what I noticed with my novice container gardening.
I’d try calling a nursery and asking someone who is fluent in this topic.

The thing you will have to watch for when potting the herbs into the tins is that there is no drainage, so you have to be very careful with watering. Many herbs like dry spoil and the roots will rot if you overwater without drainage.
