We’ll be starting TTC end of this year or beginning of next, depending. We want to travel (Europe probably), and get somethings done to the house we’re buying now. Not sure if I want to pay off my car or not yet, just because I’ll need something bigger. Looking forward to what other people suggest. πŸ™‚

We are allready expecting, due in Sept, so our list changed from “what to do before we try to have kids” to “what to get done before the baby comes”. Mainly they are all things that will make my life easier once the little one arrives and I will be stuck at home for a month or so. I HIGHLY reccomend getting any construction/home remodel projects done before your pregnancy hormones decide to take over. I have re-done a few houses on my own and never did I have a break down over plumbing or paint colors before I was pregnant.

-Install woodstove and hearth

-Build green house and raised cold frames for garden

-travel to L48 to visit Mr. J’s family again (planning to do that in June)

-Finish addition to the house (extra bedroom + utility room+ walk in closet) which will make it soooooo much nicer when family visits

-finish grants early that I am working on for my business so I don’t have to worry about deadlines and due dates at the same time.

Side Note: We have both traveled quite a bit and do not intend to stop traveling just becuase we have a child. My parents traveled from the midwest to Europe, Hawaii, Florida, Alaska, and several other places with me well before I was school age. We might  not be going ziplining or back woods skiing on vacation any more but we will still be going places without a doubt

We’re both 29 and getting amrried next year. Our pre-baby bucket list goes something like this:

1. I finish my nursing diploma (this year)

2. I get a full time job as an enrolled nurse (hopefully at the end of my course)

3. We get married (next year) and honeymoon!

4. Pay off our personal loan (only 8k anyway so not too hard)

5. Save up for a house deposit

6. Move out of FI’s parent’s place into our own home

7. I start university to become an RN

8. Do a bit more traveling together

Looking at the list is a bit overwhelming, it seems like it’ll be years before we can start.

We have the normal pre-TTC goals like both having stable careers, owning our own home etc. but some of our ‘fun’ things are;

  • Travel through Central America
  • Go skydiving
  • Learn to scuba dive
  • Climb to the Base Camp of Mount Everest
  • Get a puppy
  • Travel through South East Asia

Commenting to follow!

This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot in the last few months.  We’ve been married for 5 years now so it’s been pretty easy to accomplish everything.  We are planning on TTC in May so now it’s crunch time!

Enjoy married life for a year +  CHECK

Buy a house CHECK

Get a puppy CHECK

Own my own business for flexibility purposes (was in a extremely non family friendly work atmosphere) CHECK AS OF FEBRUARY!!!

Husband graduate college and land career job- HOPEFULLY IF ALL GOES AS PLANNED IN MAY

Pay off unsecured debt and build nest egg- CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE,  MAYBE WHEN HUBBY FINDS A JOB

Get on short term disability- THIS WEEK!

Simplify/minimalize my house- WORKING ON SELLING LOTS OF IT NOW!

Put in New flooring

Refinish bathtub (it was chipping when we moved in,  definitely can’t bathe a baby in that!)

Clean air ducts

Wow those last few are pretty boring!  Sign we are maturing… Or getting really boring!  Ha ha
